“It was here that I first discovered Lanzhou noodle soup, and it quickly became my favourite place to eat during the years I lived in Montreal from 2014 to 2018.

After leaving the city, I moved around quite a bit across Europe and the Americas. In each new place, one of the first things I’d do was search for the best Lanzhou noodle spot. Some of those bowls were excellent, but nothing ever matched what I remembered from Nouilles Lan Zhou.

When I finally returned to Montreal this summer for the first time since 2018, I came back here and ordered a bowl. After six years, I realised what I’d been missing. The flavour and texture blew me away all over again.

Thank you, Nouilles Lan Zhou, for serving me the best bowl of my favourite food. I can’t wait to visit Lanzhou itself someday to try the original, but this place will always be special to me.“

“I lived in China for 1.5 years and coming to this place threw me back there. This place is so genuine, and its flavors beat every pretentious competitor out there. Give this lovely couple a chance to take care of your palate. I had the Shanghai original spicy soup - tasty, comforting, and authentic. Great quality and quantity for the price. If you're super hungry, get a couple of items from the menu. It's still gonna be very cheap.
Oh, and the Chinese music is the ultimate touch.“

“Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal for Beef & Chinese broccoli; Cantonaise chow mein; Chicken fried rice; Sweet & sour pork; and Lemon chicken! Since coming from Vancouver I have been searching for a good, tasty restaurant and I'm so grateful I found this one. As soon as I walked in the door on New Years Eve at 7pm, I was warmly greeted. Without a reservation, I was still seated promptly and served water and tea instantly. The servers were kind, friendly, and super efficient. The food came out within a decent timeframe considering how busy it was. It was all truly delicious. We ate enough to be full at the dinner table and we both had enough to take-out for full meals later on. I also appreciated the freshly cut oranges at the end of meal. A sweet way to end a great time here.“

“Very authentic. I ordered the sichuan fish soup which was very large in portion size and tasty. I also got the stir fry vegetables which was just delicious. I think their prices were reasonable for the portion size.

We asked for extra spicy since it's winter.The fish itself only has main bones in the center, which don't need to worry about the hidden small bones everywhere.The tofu skin and potato are extra delicious because it's soaked completely in the spicy fish sauce.A great experience and a fun night!“

“Their dumplings with extra broth are delicious at a reasonable price, which is rare these days. I don't know of any other restaurant that offers this type of dumpling (but there may be some). “Ordered the combo meals for soup dumplings, chicken wonton soup, fried shrimp, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and honey yuzu tea. The sweet, hot tea is wonderful on a cold day. The soup dumplings are good, but the skin is slightly thick, in my opinion. Wonton soup broth and sour soup are quite good. Shrimp and egg rolls are just okay.

Parking: All about availability. We went during off peak season so it was easier to find parking.“

“My friend and I were in the mood for Chinese Food and dined at Deer Garden.

The restaurant is clean, well- illuminated and basic in atmosphere.

We ordered Fried Spinach, Shrimp With Chinese Broccoli and Cantonese Fried Noodles.

The Fried Spinach was sugar- coated and brittle to the touch. It was good but an acquired taste.

The Shrimp with Chinese Broccoli was tasty, but the broccoli stalks did not need to be julienned at all. Still, well- flavored.

The Cantonese Fried Noodles had a very good proportion of sauce to noodles, with delicious vegetables covering the noodles. My favorite of the three ordered dishes.

Service was excellent.

“My wife and I were really in the mood for some good Chinese food and since we were already in downtown Montreal, we decided to walk over to Chinatown which has in my opinion the best Chinese restaurants in Montreal.

We chose a real, “Old School” restaurant named Fung Shing on Boul. Saint-Laurent which has been around since 1976. The interior reminded me of when my parents took me to Chinese restaurants as a kid. Great memories!

We selected from the menu, Hunan Dumplings, Lemon Chicken, Beef with Ginger and Pineapple and Stir Fried Vegetables, and let me tell you we experienced an explosion of flavours from each of these dishes. The portions were extremely large and we could not finish all of our food. The restaurant packaged it up for us to takeout so that we could bring it home and enjoy this absolutely delicious food once again.“
