I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. Fantastic atmosphere...immediately felt at home. Excellent kitchen. Definitely a visit whenever in Montreal.
Beaucoup trop bruyant et pas donné du tout. Par contre la nourriture était délicieuse.

The staff are commendable for their attentive service, creating a friendly and popular vibe, especially during the summer on the terrace. The restaurant is known for its consistent table d'hote, specials, and overall great food. Drinks are superb and unique, and the wine list is worth exploring. The Monkland Tavern is one of the all-time great restaurants in Montreal, with the chef and his team producing exceptional dishes and the owner delivering a phenomenal dining experience.
