My husband and I stopped in last Saturday afternoon after a long morning of wandering Old Montreal, and Second Cup was exactly the rest we needed. The barista was so warm and patient while we debated between the lattes and the chai, and she even suggested the maple scone which turned out to be absolutely delicious. Second Cup Cafe is described as a cozy spot perfect for studying or relaxing, with a cozy atmosphere that feels really nice after a renovation. The interior design has improved a lot. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always smiling; the service is quick. The coffee is fresh, well-made, and always good at this chain. A customer enjoyed a cinnamon latte that was delicious and expertly crafted, and another had coffee and dulce de leche cake on a very cold day. The baked goods are super fresh and well priced. The café is huge, with many people on computers or reading, and the noise level is very low for such a busy and large coffee shop. However, this location never has the biscotti and the freshii energy balls, only serving pastries and sandwiches.
