“I’m not a cat person but the establishment is great and I appreciate what the owner does to help the animals. I read some of the reviews below and I can say honestly it’s all false. If you dont like what it stands for don’t go but don’t tarnish what she is trying g to do. Every time I visit I get my RI kitty drink and pastry and chat for a bit. The owner was always pleasant to chat with and she is not rude the place doesn’t smell like what people say so please. Like I said just don’t go if that’s how you feel and don’t make the owner feel she is doing it wrong. When in reality she is doing a lot and doing it right by helping the animals the true reason for it. Help support the business Thank you“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“First time try…. played it safe, and got my ice caramel latte, although they had so many specialty coffee’s that I was tempted to try. Owner and or employee recognized we were new faces and asked if it was our first time. When I said yes he handed me a free large sample of their “OG” which was very good, and I would def go back for or try another specialty! Customer service experiences like this are always huge for me and also if your a plant person and love coffee this is the place for you!“

“We just came by boat with two little kids not realizing the new fall hours. The employee working saw them peaking into the window and was so kind bringing them each out doughboy donuts. It was such a generous and thoughtful gesture that truly made these two little kids day! We look forward to coming again in the spring (during hours your open)“

“The piadina are amazing along with the homemade pasta and prepared items. The Portsmouth store is much easier to access than Middletown (parking) and the staff are great. I would give 5 stars if they were open til at least 5:30pm weeknights. It’s hard to get there by 5pm and I imagine they lose quite a bit of business from those of us wanting to grab dinner on the way home from work.“

“Probably the best lox and cream cheese I have ever had. The tomato was just perfect and you can tell they put a lot of work in the food when they use fresh herbs in the cream cheese. The staff were friendly even when the line was out the door. Highly recommended, will definitely be back soon.“

“Staff here so we super nice. They know my coffee and always ask me if I want my usual. I will go here again. They are apologetic if anything ever happens to register and if something is down. They are always willing to treat you with a smile and ask you how your day is while you wait while they make your coffee.“

Jasmine green tea was pretty good (7/10) We really liked the decaf coffee (9/10) what a treat. The regular coffee was not noteworthy, but fine. Nitro’s is much better. Great breakfast sandwich, grab and go ready!“

“This place has the customer service that America desperately needs. America NEEDS this customer service. Sweet ladies working there asking us how our day was, if we like the food, where we were from, like they treated us like royalty. They came to our table to pack our stuff when all we asked was for a bag. Linguica bread was delicious, they grill it and serve it hot. Latte was perfect and their breakfast sandwiches are tasty. But would made everything so much better so much greater was the service and a smile. The lady was smiling from the moment we walked into the moment that we walked out.“

There are tables inside and outside if you want to hang out. You can buy their own products and packaged coffees. I bought a latte, the coffee was really fresh. I think it has a few awards too. “We go here a few times a year. We ordered donuts today for my son's birthday. We did it through door dash. I wrote a little note asking for specific donuts that he would like. They gave us what we wanted, plus one extra, plus a little note. It's the little things in life that mean a lot to me. So i take appreciate that. It means we will keep going back. “I have been coming to this coffee shop for 15 years and it’s still my favorite place for an iced vanilla chai latte. When my kids were little we would get snacks and sit and color, and then I did homeschooling with my kids here for some time out of the house, and now we come to read, relax, and enjoy the baked goods!“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “Brought my children here on a whim today to grab something to-go. We got a sub, rice bowl, pita chips w/hummus, and falafel. The food was outstanding. The best falafel I’ve ever had. The portions were large, each dish easily big enough for 2. The service was top notch, I didn’t catch his name, I’m assuming the owner, could not have been more friendly. We will definitely be back!“

The only thing I think could be improved is efficiency of the behind the counter staff. The wait for the bagels was insane, and according to a local is very common. I think he said “if you want to kill an hour, come to Bristol Bagel Works.” While we didn’t wait an hour per se, it was probably a good 20-30 mins with only 6 people ahead of us. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.“
