“Just had the most delicious Mexican food at this hidden gem of a restaurant! ?? The menu is full of authentic dishes and the drinks are absolutely delicious. The place may be small, but the taste of the food was definitely worth it. However, I must warn you, if you're not used to eating spicy food, you might want to steer clear of the green enchiladas. ?#MexicanCuisine #AuthenticFlavors #HiddenGem #DeliciousFood #SmallButMighty #SpicyFood #FoodieFinds #MustTry #TasteOfMexico #EnchiladaLove#roofersincharleston #theroofibgladyI highly recommend giving this place a try if you're looking for a true taste of Mexico. You won't be disappointed! ??✨?“

“La Rivera is hands down one of the best spots in Charleston!
The food is always fresh and full of flavor—my absolute favorite is the Agua Chile Verde, it never disappoints. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service. GM Xochilt and her team consistently go above and beyond to make sure every visit feels special. You can tell they truly care about their guests.
If you’re looking for a place with incredible food, amazing hospitality, and a welcoming vibe, La Rivera is it. Highly recommend!“

“Amazing!!! Will be back!!“
“these are the best carnitas tacos and huecharas I have had in a very long time. Corn and flour tortillas are hand made. Carnitas are smoked and marinated correctly. Salsa Verde has just enough bite. Located in North Charleston on the corner of Ashley Phosphate and Stafford Road. Right across from a baseball field. Next door to Country Inn Rooms and Suites. Bon Appetit! R. “The food is great. I love their Tortas and street tacos. The best you will get anywhere around here. Ramon and his wife are great, always service with a smile.“
“This is the best Mexican food in Charleston hands down! Homemade tortillas, and salsas. The tacos have plenty of meat and the meat is flavorful. This is the place with the sabor! Go here, you won’t regret it. The price is good and the food is great. It also has a nice sitting area and the truck itself is very clean. This place is bueno, bonito, & barato. I tried it once and couldn’t help myself from going back a second time in the same week. Hands down the best.“

“Absolutely love Rebel!!! The entire staff (including but certainly not limited to David, Jeremy, Leland, Shannon and Chef Dutch and all the whole BOH staff) are professional, fun and all around just great at their jobs….. the food is delicious and well priced, the atmosphere is inviting and best of all the margaritas are ALWAYS on point. I could not recommend Rebel enough, my favorite spot in the Park Circle area ❤️❤️❤️“
“Day 1: Got the Carne Asada burrito and two tacos, lengua & carnitas. The portion size for the tacos was beyond generous! They were very delicious as well, first time for me having the Lenguas. The burrito was equally generous in size and the flavors were amazing. The red sauce and green sauces were very tasty and the red sauce has a little heat which I liked.
Day 2: Got the Cabeza Torta. The portion size was huge, and the meat was so tender. The flavor was very good as well. Definitely will be returning for lunch soon!
I felt the $$ I spent there was appropriate for the amount and quality of my meals.“

“Went here while staying in North Charleston. Danger-hiked as a white guy from the hotel against the advice of the hotel staff. Just the usual beggars asking for stuff along the way.
Got to the restaurant, found the correct door to enter, then stood there being ignored for about two minutes. Finally asked in Spanish if they were open and if so, could I get a table? They magically noticed I existed. Once seated I asked if they had any beer? The young lady replied that all they had was teas. So I ordered a Tamarind Tea which came out in a half pitcher with a straw. Tasted interesting. When I asked for a menu she said they didn’t have one. At this point I’m committed since I was lucky not to get robbed walking there and I still had to get back home so might as well get something for my potential last meal. I asked what they had to offer and she said she’d be right back. Up walks an Abuela with an apron that tells me they have Tlayudas y Tortas that night. So I ordered one of each. The food came out in about 15 minutes and it was delicious. When I got done I went to pay and she rang me up for $20 for the whole experience. I tried to tip her but she got nervous and looked around and then told me not to tip. By now it’s dark along Ashley Phosphate road and I’m walking back to the Residence Inn as a lone white dude. Don’t do that unless you are adventurous or looking for a reason to fight. Made it back to my hotel and noticed I felt funny. Turns out that tamarind tea had to have some cannabis in there somewhere because I was high af like I took a 10mg edible and it wasn’t just the euphoria of surviving a late night stroll through little Mexico. It was easily the most entertaining part of my two weeks in Charleston. 10/10 would recommend, but seriously, if you don’t speak Spanish and are one of those people that expect… literally anything that people complain about in these reviews, just go eat at a Taco Bell or something.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mexican restaurant that truly offers authentic cuisine, and I must say, it was a remarkable experience. I started with the Tlayudas, which were incredibly delicious and a delightful departure from the ordinary; they are quite large, reminiscent of a pizza. Additionally, I ordered the charola de marisco, which was nothing short of amazing, featuring a variety of seafood that was 100% delicious. The service was exceptional as well; the waitress was not only attentive but also very friendly. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for genuine Mexican food in Charleston.“

“I love tacos and am from Texas home of the taco. I like off the beaten path home in the wall spots. I also like them to have a green and red sauce. I tried this place and had the beef tacos and pork tacos. With cilantro and onions, and cheese. They didn’t have flour tortillas at first I was disappointed because they only had corn. However, these were very good corn tortillas. The only other one I’ve not had a break on me while eating my taco other than a restaurant in Austin, Texas, Matt El Rancho. I was told that the corn tortillas are handmade and I enjoyed these tacos very much. Sauces were good too. Red was more hot, but I like mixing them. I’d come back here when I visit Charleston.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at what I believe to be the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Charleston! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by our waitress Jovita, who deserves special mention for her exceptional service. She was incredibly kind and friendly, especially towards my children, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Jovita checked on us regularly, ensuring that everything was perfect, which made us feel truly valued as guests. Now, let’s talk about the food! It was nothing short of amazing—each dish was bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. You can tell there’s a lot of love put into the cooking. I also want to highlight the recent updates to the building. The ambiance is inviting and revitalized, making it a pleasure to dine there. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. Thank you, Jovita, for making our visit so memorable! We can't wait to return!“
