This was one of chattanoogas oldest restaurants. We need to do better. We as chattanoogans....could have saved the location. Looking forward to trying the new location.“
“On May 5'th my wife and I were touring Chattanooga. At lunchtime we wanted a small local cafe versus a chain store. Driving on 38'th St. we saw Maynells and decided to stop. The owner was arriving as we did and told us he was renovating the inside but we could order at the window. I explained that my wife did not want to eat in the car and we would like to sit despite the renovation work. He kindly cleared room and then made us a delicious lunch. I tried the bologna cheeseburger sandwich and Rena had the fish dinner. Excellent food and reasonably priced but, what made this cafe stand out was the owner/chef. Very gracious, personable and helpful. When we go to Chattanooga again we will go out of our way to eat here.“

The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and lip-smacking good.Service at the drive through was a little perfunctory. I'll chalk it up to kiln temperature heat index. “The place wasn't busy when we first arrived. Customer service is so so. All of the food is made to order, and given in take out containers. Our hamburgers were wrapped in foil. The Cheerwine float that I had was okay. The pricing is fair. Plan to spend about $10 per person.“
“This place is great! I had tenderloin egg and cheese biscuit. My husband had bacon and cheese.It's funny to me that ppl would complain that the tater tots are greasy. They are fried potato.We did not have a cinnamon roll but man they looked amazing.We even saw a guy with his dog in the drive-thru line with his dog. That dog obviously knew what he was in line for. He was being really good and very attentive.They also do a cooking class on making biscuits.I did not like the gravy but I am a homemade gravy snob so don't hold that against them.“

“Well, my first time here as well as in Chattanooga, TN. Hubby had heard of the spot from friends a year ago. If you a scaredy-cat tourist, the place will look sketchy as heck. I'm from NY and living in GA for over 8 years I learned about the best establishments, be them hole in the wall places! Anyway, you pull up and chef outside on the grill, smoking it up! When you get to the door it reminds me of one of those old liquor stores you ain't got no business being in as a kid. Push in the door and that BBQ small hits your belly hard. It's a small spot they got about 4 tables inside but it's cozy. Menu looks legit. Our family 3 had a variety of selections hot dog and mac n cheese for the kid, I had the wings, green beans and slaw and hubby had a pork sandwich baked beans and potatoes salad!. I was able to get the green beans because they use turkey. I was salivating but disappointed. They were peppery and bland, but baby my slaw and wings were finger licking the whole time good. The wings were a little tiny but VERY tasteful. The kid ate all of his food and he a picky eater, plus he don't eat everyone's mac n cheese. Let's just say no morsel was left behind. My hubby said everything was good he meant to get me the potato salad and him the coleslaw his error my pleasure. He don't eat potato salad but decided to try it, why he couldn't stop eating it! Then, he had the nerve to ask these people, " who made the potato salad?" Glad we sat and stayed and enjoyed it all, they seem to be a family business giving the business with this BBQ. The bonus was customer service was all that and then some!“
