Chicken & waffles were good, whole chicken pieces. But would prefer chicken strips.
This was one of our favorite restaurants in Memphis! We went for a quick lunch before the football game and this is probably the reason I didn't get a picture of the amazing food! The wings off the appetizer section were ?, the homemade Teriyaki sauce is delicious! The grilled chicken sandwich with bacon was so juicy and delicious! Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Very very long wait, and my food was $31. I don't believe it was worth that much, especially since my food had little to no seasoning. The catfish was good and the shrimp and grits were not bad but the red beans and rice had no flavor what so ever.
Parking: Not easy to find parking
Chef Tam's Underground Cafe, opened in 2018 and now closed, was a favorite spot in Memphis. Despite some complaints about long waits and high prices, the food, especially the catfish and shrimp and grits, received praise. The lack of flavor in the red beans and rice was a disappointment. The helpful staff and cozy atmosphere left a positive impression on customers.
