Fantastic cocktails and bartenders!
When The Downstairs in San Antonio closed years ago, the wife and I thought our speakeasy-style bar-to-visit went the way of the dodo bird. I'm happy to report that, upon traveling through Memphis, we have found a highly appropriate replacement.

Tony and Matt at the bar were fantastic. We had a great time. The Wasabi deviled eggs were delicious and we loved all our cocktails! Clean bathrooms and clean bar. Thoughtfully decorated. Would also recommend staying at Hotel Pontotoc

The decor, music—sometimes live—and overall vibe make it a fun and cool spot that feels like a hidden gem in Memphis.
The bar serves a variety of cocktails, including the delicious Pontoc, a spin on the Negroni, martinis, and the Elvis-themed “Hip Shaker.” The popcorn sampler is a great snack to enjoy with drinks. The venue is especially popular with hotel guests who want a nice place to unwind, and it’s praised for its good drinks and friendly staff.
However, some concerns include the high prices for classic cocktails, which can be over $18 before taxes and tips, making them expensive after all charges. There was also an issue with a special on the menu that was not honored, which disappointed some guests. Despite these drawbacks, The Dame’s inviting atmosphere, great drinks, and overall experience make it a notable spot in Memphis.
