“I needed a truly unique cake for my husband's surprise 50th birthday bash. Crafting the perfect centerpiece was crucial for capturing the essence of the event, especially since we hadn't followed traditional cake routes like wedding or groom's cakes before. I envisioned a cake that reflected his passion for design, geodes, and masculinity. Despite being in California while organizing the celebration in Houston, I turned to social media to find culinary artists. Luckily, I stumbled upon Nafise's Instagram (@leyanasugarstudio). After browsing her posts, I hoped she'd be available to assist, and my excitement soared when she agreed. I shared my inspiration and non-negotiables, then entrusted her with carte blanche to unleash her artistic talent. It was the best decision! The resulting cake was absolutely phenomenal. Many guests even questioned if it was real because it was "too stunning to be edible." In the days following the party, our family couldn't stop raving about its exquisite flavor, declaring it the best they've ever tasted. Working with Nafise was a delight, and if you're contemplating enlisting her for your special occasion, I implore you to take the plunge and say "yes."“

“The parking lot and the store were easy to get to. When we entered, my husband and I weren’t greeted. There is a plentiful selection of various Filipino baked goods, like ensaymada and Ube treats. You can also order milkshakes, fruit drinks, and coffee. There is outdoor seating. The place was packed, which tells you it is really good. My husband and I especially enjoyed the Ube brownies, which had a rich flavor. We were served fast - in and out in ten minutes. Since a lot of people were at the bakery, there wasn’t much room to walk. There is no restroom, so keep that in mind. You may also want to do some research on Filipino baked goods before coming here (if you’ve never had them before), as there are no explanations on the signs. Overall score: A-“

“I would pay more for the old ECK egg tarts from around 10 years ago. They were big and had so much more custard. Like a mouth full of custard all the way until the last bite. Still good but I wouldn't go for a dozen anymore.

The guy told me he *thinks* they're the same size. I'm positive they're not because the original ones left a strong impression on me that had me coming here just for dozens of egg tarts. If you're reading this, bring those back and take my money!!“

Everything looks beautiful & well maintained. The seating can be a tiny bit crowded but does feel authentic. The servers were very sweet. I ordered the Milky Way & it’s the best coffee I’ve ever had, no lie. We also ordered an eclair at the advice of the people in line with us, it seems to be a customer favorite. It was really good. I also ordered a pecan danish & while I do think it would taste better warmed, it was still really pleasant. My boyfriend got the raspberry tart & has still been raving about it 3 days later. Everything was fresh & made in house as well. Would definitely recommend & revisit in the future.“
