“I’ve been twice now. I went a couple of weeks after Barkord opened and for my birthday. It’s always great service, kind people, and the private rooms for karaoke are reasonable and super fun.

Not sure if they have a room dedicated to birthdays, but when I booked a karaoke room I let the staff know it was for my birthday. When I arrived I walked into a room decorated with birthday decor. It was such a sweet surprise! They’re quick to provide service. Overall, atmosphere is welcoming! They have an extensive menu of food and drinks (so good!)

“It’s a lot of fun you can’t go wrong with a karaoke place and this place was gorgeous! So pretty and fun. It was packed. The rooms for karaoke are very high tech and the seats are incredible comfortable. I booked a large room for my husband and it really could fit like 17 people! The disco lights were so cool too. It felt very private and they have tons of great alcohol selection. I wish I tried the foods! But we were so busy singing .
Fyi parking is super super limited esp on a Friday night.
Would recommend car pooling

Of note no outside food allowed. I do wish they made this place more vegan friendly for those who have religious/cultural
/personal reasons they could not have meat.

“Came here for lunch and was met with a beautiful restaurant! The food was good, but not worth the price in my opinion. I would recommend coming during the weekdays for their lunch special. Galbi and seafood pancake were good, just expensive.“

“Good afternoon everyone! We attended Gen Korean BBQ House in Houston, Tx on Friday 7/5/2023. My family And I were in for a visit from Louisiana and decided to eat here for a couple of reasons; Reason 1: My daughter and I have a very severe allergy to Iodine/Seafood so we're very very limited to what we can eat but with Korean BBQ we can pick out meats and safely cook it on a grill that hasn't been exposed to any seafood products! Reason 2: We don't have very many, if any Korean BBQ spots in Lake Charles, La and we absolutely love this food. So we chose to go to Gen Korean BBQ but to our surprise our hostess/waitress was Extremely rude! not just once or twice but, throughout the whole dining experience! My fiance requested another waiter or waitress after speaking to the manager but nothing was done besides him saying he would speak to the rude waitress, that's unacceptable so we quietly left! I'm not sure if she was having a bad night or this is generally how she acts but where I'm from this is not acceptable and speaks volumes about her character!“

I eat here at least once per week and my favorite dishes are the potato pancakes, beef pho and the shredded beef stew. My goal is to try the whole menu but sometimes my favorite dishes are too good to pass up.“

We’ve eaten at bbq Korean chicken in Austin, Katy, and in the Houston area. Their wings never fail. You can taste their freshness (not the reheated taste)and they are served hot. They’re crispy and the galbi sauce is delicious. The sweet potato fries could’ve been crispy and less burnt. The fried dumplings had great taste and they were fried just right! And oh!! “The taste is so good. I have been eating this soup for more than 10 years, but I’ve been a customer here for 2 years.

Sometimes when I order extra spicy online, I receive regular spicy. I always pay $1 extra for extra spicy because I really love spicy food.

One day when I ordered extra spicy at the restaurant, the waitress explained to me twice that it’s already spicy. I understand she was just worried about me 😊

But since there is an extra spicy option and customers choose extra spicy, please make it extra spicy. When I get the wrong spice level, I can’t enjoy the food because it doesn’t meet my taste level.“

“Man was this place a pleasant surprise! My wife's turn to pick the restaurant and picked here. I'm honestly not a fan of most Korean food. So we order the seafood pancakes, spicy chicken bulgolgi, and kimchi. All three were 5 out of 5! The seafood pancakes were full of seafood and was crunchy and fresh, delicious! “Visited on New Year’s Eve. The Korean food is bold, authentic, and well seasoned, with a great variety of drinks. Soju is a must. Later at night there was a DJ, good music, and a fun vibe that made eating and drinking very enjoyable. The crowd was mostly younger people living abroad or locals who grew up here.

One small downside was the reservation system. I initially booked a regular table, but it was later canceled because they only accept reservations for karaoke rooms. To be fair, the table option was removed from the system afterward. Luckily, we walked in around 8 pm and had no problem getting a table, as the place really starts filling up closer to 9:30 or 10 pm.

Overall, still a lively and enjoyable spot, especially later at night.“

“My review will be somewhat biased because I’ve been coming here for years with my Dad since it’s so close to work and it’s relatively unknown. It’s a no frills restaurant/convenience store. The original owner used to cook all the dishes herself but with age, she’s trusted the restaurants to her stewards who have been with her for decades. They’ve done a great job continuing the cooking technics and quality of taste. The kimchi is still made fresh in-house as are all their banchan. I’ve had everything on the menu but never took pictures. Their braised short ribs are so succulent. Their jjampong, although not filled with as much seafood as in the past, is still solid and the taste is nostalgic for me. Spicy yet flavorful. All their dishes are solid. Still a favorite of mine, when I need a quick and home cooked meal.“

“Have been here for several times! Food is legit and authentic! Service is good too! The Jokbal and Bossam are “must-order”s. Kukbam and haejuntang are also yummy. Big portion with decent price - I can’t see any complaints about this place.

I saw that most bad reviews were about the “slow service “ during the soft opening, which I also have experienced the 1st time I stepped into this restaurant. BUT now they are extremely professional and friendly! Way to go JangChoongDong!“

It’s the best Korean restaurant I have visited in Houston. Great variety of food choices. The lunch specials are reasonably priced. I love the seafood dolsol bibimban, soon tofu jigae, bibim hangmian. Soy crab! Everything we ordered was 10/10 quality and portion. It deserves higher rating!!!!“
