“The food does not have Cuban flavor. I had the vaca frita and it had a condiment like curry which was overpowering. The congri was salty and greasy and it didn’t taste good. The croquetas were round and made of pork and cheese, they were not croquetas. The tamal cubano was good and the yuca con mojo. The cafe cortadito was awful made with evaporated milk. Very disappointed. Overall.“

“I woke up craving Seco’s legendary spinach enchiladas. We are in the middle of a pandemic and I am tired of my cooking so I called in to place an order to go for lunch. Chef Seco answered the phone and said he is sorry but they aren’t open for lunch right now. I said oh darn I’m craving your spinach enchiladas but I’ll call back another time. He said he was there accepting a delivery and would make them for me! I will never forget this and my belly is so happy right now. These enchiladas are to die for. As well as the soups, brunch and everything else. Thank you Chef Seco! On a side note-my family started frequenting Jalapeños regularly when I was about 7 or 8 (I’m 40) and I’ve been ordering the spinach enchiladas since then. I also used to work there in high school as a waitress.“

The girls are friendly and nice folks. My favorite dish here is the ‘mixto con camarones y caracol al ajillo’. It’s a mixed seafood plate with perfectly blended shrimp and snail in light garlic sauce served over rice and beans, fried toasted plantains, and lettuce salad. Their aderezo (sauce) is the perfect topping. Never disappoints and it’s very fulfilling. You can share the plate with another person and still be full. Their desayuno (breakfast) plates are so good too. The prices are reasonable and it’s best to call to order before pickup.“

The tacos are excellent specially the Buenos Aires…whoever their cook is I hope they never leave. Beer is great and so are their mixed drinks. The staff is always wanting you to have a nice time.
