There used to be a Pollo Regio on Bowen near Division that closed a while back. It had really gone downhill and we had stopped going there before it closed. The food was never as good as this food. Please check this location out. You'll be glad you did!“

First time there and he immediately welcomed us with open arms and went through the menu with us explaining popular items, specials etc. He was incredibly patient with us and treated us like family. “Hands down the best experience I've had dinning out! Kyle (the manager) introduced himself upon arrival and thanked us for choosing Uncle Julio's for my dad's birthday dinner. Our table was ready pretty quickly and we were introduced to our waiter, Tom. We initially thought we'd have 12 people in our party. Tom was happy to add another table when more than we had counted on said they were on their way. Tom was super attentive & honest about his take on drinks and food (which I love.) Time came to add 2 more tables Tom smiled and they were there in seconds. He didn't mind the large group and we NEVER felt forgotten, didn't have to wait on drink refills, or had a request he didn't meet within minutes. “Very flavorful, very clean. The birria and tacos (asada, barbacoa, pastor) were good, and the salsa helped add a kick to each bite. The salsa bar was fun and trying each salsa made the experience great. Each salsa was good as well. The horchata is house-made and not too sweet.

If I had to say anything negative, it is the price. I personally thought the price was higher than other local taco joints, especially since these tacos are a little smaller. I also thought the tacos were on the oily side.“

I first had them catered at my friend’s son’s birthday party and I had to visit their location in person because their tacos were that good. They offer catering, to-go, and a small dine in. It’s located in a convenience store off of Matlock Rd. Such good authentic Mexican tacos. $12 for this plate of 4 pastor tacos with rice and beans!“

Our food came out super fast, and he came back several times to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. His service really made the meal even better. “My wife and I have started going to Cartel Taco Bar every week, which I’m pretty sure officially makes us “regulars”… or possibly “problems.” Hard to tell.

She gets tipsy on their margaritas because they’re amazing and we both eat like two ex cons fresh out of prison. From maximum security to Maximum tacos.

I’ve tried almost everything on the menu at this point, and not a single thing has disappointed. It’s all amazing. Like, suspiciously amazing. I’m convinced there’s some sort of culinary wizard in the back casting spells on the tortillas.

The staff? Absolute champs. Exactly what you want from a bartender or server: fun, friendly, and the perfect amount of “we’re used to people like you.”

10/10. Will keep showing up weekly until someone stages an intervention.“

“One of my favorites for inexpensive but really tasty mexican food. Love there Verde sauce and also Great Civeche . Really I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. Always see doctors and nurses eating here from close by hospital. It's a interesting mix of clientele. Today I went with a friend who is Mexican and she gave it her seal off approval. “We have been eating at la Isla for 30 years. Mainly the Park Row and Cooper location and when they moved to Pantene we followed them there. We have sampled the menu widely but I am centered on the tostada de Ceviche for a start. Then the sour cream chicken enchilada plate. We love the rice and beans and I love to put some of the delicious salsa on them. My wife usually gets either the fajitas or the tacos Al carbon. The chips and salsa are great too. Moderately priced as well. Give them a try.“
