“Drove here from Bandera after reading that it was one of the best place to eat in San Antonio. Normally it is rare for me to actually enjoy chicken. “A great food truck business on Grayson in the Besame food truck lot. I purchased the Party Fowl. My wife and I were across the street having drinks and I decided to get the big box of chicken to share at the bar. It was an instant hit! About five or six other people ate and raved how good it was. The price was reasonable for such a large amount of food. The owner and his wife were very nice. We ordered the medium heat rating which was perfect. The flavor was spicy enough to enjoy but not destroy taste buds. Cayenne and paprika were the dominant flavors with a subtle sweetness. The meat is chicken breast tenders only (of which I'm usually not a fan, I like dark meat) but these were excellent! They were very juicy and not dry or greasy. The sides of mac and cheese, and fries were great. The comeback sauce was also a hit. Special mention, they had these wonderful sweet pickles that tasted like they were homemade (I didn't circle back too see if they were). On a funny side note, I'm writing this literally a week after having my first experience with hot chicken in Nashville. So far, I'm most impressed with Pete's!“
“I was so excited to finally try San Antonio's Gus's location! I've had it once and thought it was some of the best fried chicken I had. San Antonio's location didn't disappoint! The restaurant offers lots of seating and is in a great location. We did seat ourselves per the sign and were greeted immediately by a waiter. Ordering is fairly simple since your menu is on the table. I ordered a 2 piece white meat plate with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Our food arrived shortly and of course I dug in! The chicken is juicy and flavorful, however the Mac and cheese stole the show! Hands down this is one of the best Mac and cheese I've ever had! Overall the food and experience were phenomenal! Definitely add this to your list of top fried chicken places in San Antonio.“

“It's my 1st time here. We arrived at 8pm on Monday. We sat at the bar. The server (Jesusita) was very attentive and friendly. She provided outstanding service during our visit.! She promptly offered drinks and even sample beers after asking if they had a red ale. I went with a Dunkle (German beer). That beer hit the spot...it was really good!! We also ordered the Mac & Cheese. It was absolutely delicious!! The chicken tender was so juicy and flavorful. We ordered the wings, plain, with sauce on the side. I feel the dry taste in my mouth as I chewed on it. Good thing it came with plenty of chipotle sauce and sour cream, because it would have made it harder to eat the chicken. They also give you salsa verde, so it makes eating the dry chicken more bearable. The rice and beans, the slices of avocado, everything was good on it, but the chicken. The chicken just needs to be cooked better.I also would like to add that I think adding some tomato in the plate would make it a little better, since this plate is more like a salad bowl.Based on my overall experience, I can’t really say if I would want to come back. The food is good, but personally it doesn’t make me eager to return. Maybe I have to try the other items?“
