Our Houston family takes us to dinner to this fine Mexican Le Tiempo restaurant every time. Our valet was prompt and our family of 6 adults and 2 little kids were greeted politely and we were seated quickly for dinner.

Our server, it appeared, was not having a good night. Appeared to have an attitude! All of us didn’t quite know what the reason was, certainly not us since we had just been seated.

For a few minutes ALL of us family members thought our get together and dinner celebration might be not that exciting. BUT wait - right away Restaurant Management MAURICIO noticed our disgruntled looks and jumped right in to the rescue! He turned our family dinner to the BEST SERVICE experience we have had at Le Tiempo and for that matter any other restaurant.

Mauricio assured our drinks were perfect, appetizers properly prepared, and dinner entrees chicken & beef fajitas and kids’ meals were served with perfection! He ensured we were being serviced with attention and by himself for the TOP service we were being provided!

Restaurant Management MAURICIO brought in with him his co-management RACHEL, introduced her to our Houston family hosts, and requested that he be contacted for any and all restaurant reservation be made through him for best service and experience.

Finally, icing on the “service cake”, Mauricio treated us all with deserts - on the house! Super touch.
And, yes we will be back. Thanks 🙏 Mauricio.

HEB was providing coupons for a buy-one-get-one-free BOGO entree at El Tiempo for January, so I decided to hit a few El Tiempos around Houston. I avoided any inside the loop because of the required valet parking. This was my second El Tiempo to visit.

Time to Entree: 25 Minutes

We arrived at around 7:20PM on a Thursday afternoon and there was reasonable parking here. Seated quickly and got drinks.

Coupon interpretation: This El Tiempo was much more restrictive than the others I went to. We were only allowed combination plates, and we had to order nonalcoholic drinks to meet the requirements. At other locations we were allowed anything except fajitas and could order margaritas to meet the drink requirement.

Margarita (4.5/5): I got a frozen mango margarita as I usually do. The margaritas are relatively consistent at El Tiempo and they do a nice floater of tequila. This one was very well blended with only one or two chunky bits clogging my straw.
Las Vegas Chicken Combination Plate (3.5/5): Definitely huge. We both ordered this and I got it with potatoes and beans, and my friend got his with rice and beans. We got through about half our plates and took leftovers home. The food was flavorful and filling - a lot of carbs though, not much protein or vegetables to fill the tacos. Things were very saucy and cheesy.

I paid via inKind with no issues. You have to manually write in your check total instead of using a check number, and then the wait staff will take a photo with their phone so don't close the screen (or take a screenshot yourself).

Overall, a solid tex-mex staple of Houston that remains quite pricey. Suggest checking for coupons or using inKind for a discount.“

The house margarita is legendary — truly one of the best in Texas. Many have tried to copy the original salsa and the iconic Jose’s Dip, but nothing comes close. The dedication shows: some staff have been here 40–50+ years! Last night I had the Bubba de Tejas Hambergueso con Queso, and it was absolutely over the top — possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. I'd still send out of state visitors here for good TexMex. They've found a way to have a vent blowing on every seat in the main dining area. If you don't like that the back dining room or the patio is better. On this visit they brought us some guac that was turning brown. Guac isn't my thing so I didn't care but my wife wasn't thrilled & the server was so busy he never checked back with us so we could get it replaced in a timely manner. He's a good server but simply had too many tables. We'll be back as this is a minor malfunction.“

I will be back if I'm ever in the area! PS, make sure to lock your vehicle, cause car theft seems to be a regular occurence at this restaurant.
