“Holy smokes, this little place was SO GOOD. 😂 We stopped at Kona’s Comida de Casa while passing through Big Lake and I’m so glad we did!

Everything was made fresh. The rolled tacos were absolutely delicious, the gorditas were PERFECT, the chips were fresh, and the green salsa was easily our favorite. And when they say spicy, they mean it — the jalapeños had some serious heat! My husband’s head was literally sweating from the bacon-wrapped jalapeño. 😂🌶️

It’s a tiny little women-owned shack, and the ladies working were so sweet and friendly. Most of them didn’t speak much English, but we had absolutely no trouble ordering. Veronica is the owner’s name posted on the wall, and you can tell there’s a lot of pride going into this place.

They prefer cash, but they also have tap-to-pay and Cash App. There’s outdoor seating, and it looks like they’re expanding and adding bathrooms too.

If you’re driving through Big Lake, STOP HERE. Don’t let the tiny building fool you — the food is fantastic, fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth the stop. We would 100% come back!“

“Clean restaurant with plenty of parking and lots of seating. If the parking lot looks full, go inside and a seat will probably be available. The ladies there are all very sweet and attentive. I had a Dragon Burger and Side Salad. It was amazing. Excellent service. Great food. Large portions.“
