“The owner knows stuff! No subject we threw at him wasn’t improved by his vast knowledge of organic chemistry, business & a zest for the various things he does. His wines reflect the passion for his varied interests. Clearly his chemist background perfect this wine-making & beer brewing craft. I was raised on a horse ranch. I survived long COVID several times over. This means I have a fairly ineffective nose. I could smell the essences of his wines with clarity & it was enjoyable! I now know I like dry wine. I learned several things new tonight. Highly recommend solely on the wine. But if you like good conversation & to hear good stories - discover this hidden gem.”

“I ALMOST SUFFOCATED EATING THEIR POZOLE!!!! I almost swallowed a Heineken beer bottle cap. I spoke to the business owner Oscar, whom admitted they add beer to their pozole. But he said that they have insurance and that I could do whatever I wanted. In another words he didn't care that I couldn't have died. A bottle cap can tear up your intestinal track. The picture shows the bottle cap that I pulled out of my mouth before swallowing it. Oscar, Insurance will not help if you die. HE TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS NEGLIGENCE!”

“Taqueria Jalisco is back and better than ever!

We’ve been coming to this location for about five years now, and it quickly became one of our all-time favorites. It was the perfect spot to bring out-of-town family, a cozy family-owned restaurant with some of the best Mexican food around.

But we have to be honest. By late 2023 into early 2024, something changed. The quality dropped, and our hearts sank. In February and March 2024, they were out of everything. One time they had no corn chips but made us flour chips instead, which were surprisingly amazing. The next visit there was no queso, no guacamole, and no chips at all. We had to leave and stopped going entirely. It truly felt like we lost a favorite spot.

Then everything changed.

In late 2024 or early 2025, we decided to give it another try and our jaws dropped. The vibe had completely transformed. It was busy, full of energy, and the staff were smiling again. The food is the best it has ever been. The atmosphere isn’t sad or dull anymore, it’s fun, welcoming, and alive. The night-shift cook deserves serious credit. The way he plates meals is incredible. Every dish looks like it came from a high-end restaurant.

Even with all the upgrades, the prices are unbeatable. You can really tell someone stepped in and gave this place the love and attention it needed.

We were so blown away we ate there two weeks in a row, every single weeknight. That’s how good it was. We are beyond happy that our favorite Mexican restaurant is back in action. Thank you for bringing it back to life.

PS. You need to try the flour chips. The chef nails them every time.”

“My husband and I passed by this restaurant several times. We lived in Hondo going on three years. We finally got a chance to stop in and eat breakfast. From the beginning of our entrance into the restaurant, we were greeted with kindness, respect, and we fell in love with the restaurant already. We were family in the eyes of our server and the staff. All smiled and actually gave us a feeling of being grateful that we were there. Not only is the service stellar, so was our food. I ordered the carne asada plate. It was delicious & outstanding. My husband ordered the three piece crispy tacos plate, it too was amazing & delicious. Not much to look at from the outside, but well worth stopping inside for a bite.”

“Pastries to die for. Literally better than any bakery anywhere I've ever found inside the SATX city limits and well worth the extra drive to Catstroville. I've tried muffins, cookies, custard croissants, cheesecake croissants, chocolate croissants, monkey bread, cinnamon rolls. Everything was melt in your mouth amazing. I do wish they'd put the food behind a glass barrier or keep in the back with just one display item out for sanitary purposes, but that's just me being nitpicky since other people won't even cover their nose when they sneeze.”

My wife got a chicken fried chicken and she said it was amazing. My son got chicken fried steak with a salad and that was the best he said. The bread from Haby’s was delish and not to forget the pecan and coconut pie were scrumptious!!! Highly recommended and can’t wait to go back It was a 10!!”
