“If you’re a fan of hush puppies! Catfish Charlie’s has the best in town! Oh and the catfish is delicious too! But you also have to have their in house made gumbo! It’s to die for! They don’t have a bad dish on the menu! Try them once, and I promise you’ll be back again!“

“The food was fantastic, abundant, and all at a great price. There was one mistake in the order, but the quality of the food completely made up for it. Included a nice amount of protein on the sandwich, 2 sides, and a scoop of delicious cobbler. Really is a barn, inside and out. This place turned into a highlight of our visit to South Padre Island and Corpus Christi.“

“We LOVE cheddar becasue we know all the ingredients in everything they make. I've never had a waitress come back to me and tell me they dont know what's in the dish im asking about so I should just assume ill be allergic to it. They know what's in the food and they are willing to ask for you. Food is delicious and mostly safe for my yeast free diet (I begrudgingly give my crescent rolls to my kiddos) and there is something for everyone at a really reasonable family price.“

“Portis Kountry Kitchen is hands-down one of the best spots for true Southern comfort food. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried to golden perfection—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The meatloaf was absolutely amazing—tender, flavorful, and smothered in just the right amount of sauce. Every bite felt like it was made with love. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home cooking, this is it. I’ll definitely be coming back!“
