“The food was incredible! I saved the little bit of sauce and dipped my roll in it for a midnight snack. The wine I was recommended was extra dry just like I asked, and the tiramisu I took home was AMAZING. Our waitress was very polite and gave great suggestions! I think I may be frequenting this restaurant just for a tiramisu to-go!”

“Food was good, although I didn't get the tea with my special as advertised. Service was a bit slow at the time and day we went, had to ask for chip refill and our waters were never refilled. Seldom saw the server to ask these things so we approached the counter and requested refills ourselves. The inside temperature was absolutely frigid.”

“Move over, Elgin hot guts. Both Southside Market and Myers have reduced the spiciness of their "hot" sausage to the barely warm level. The sausage here is not as hot as the Southside hot guts of my youth 60+ years ago, but it definitely has a kick. The grind is coarse enough that you actually have to chew, and the flavor is well-rounded. In short, it's better than anything you can get in Elgin today. The pork ribs were meaty and tender and although they could use more smoke, were very good. The two-meat plate with a generous serving of sausage, three ribs, two sides, bread, pickles, and onions was very reasonably priced at $13.99. Definitely a go-to place in Gonzales. FYI, I worked at Southside in the late 50s and early 60s, so I know a thing or two about hot guts (AKA sausage).”

“Hubby and I were so glad to have dined here. He ordered a steak and Inordered the fried gizzards and the boudin. The Gizzards were yummy. The batter was flavorful (not just salty) and the gizzards tasted fresh (not old, like it had been in the fridge for long), thus, it’s not rubbery and didn’t hurt my jaw (and teeth). Perfectly done. I didn’t like the boudin though. It is not as flavorful as I expected (having had boudin in numerous places in Texas). The place and ambiance is great. A very relaxing and enjoyable place to dine. The place has a bar which was just too high (as the seats appear to be short in height). Overall, we love the restaurant and definitely recommend it. We will definitely be coming back.Parking: The parking is on the square just across the restaurant. It is free and provides ample parking; but it is a shared parking with the other establishments in the area.”

“Very nice that they have a buzzer when you're getting patio service. We didn't need to use it because we had an attentive server. Still a cool idea I've never seen anywhere else. Food was delicious.”
