“Came to McAllen for work and stopped by C&C Grill. Found a hidden gem out here. Started off with the quesabirria and man I was hooked. Then tried some fish tacos and was not disappointed. The Berrian had an awesome flavor even the calories they give with it, nothing gamey just straight savory flavor. The fish tacos were delicious as well.Aguas frescos were delicious you can tell everything from the food, chips, and Aguas are made fresh daily!! Definitely must try. “Steamed tacos...the beans were watery. The potato is good but it lacks some species. I think the cabbage is missing tomato and the red sauce is very delicious. When I went they had already run out of enchiladas. The area where the tables are didn't smell very good but it looked clean...maybe they need to see if the smell from the bathroom is transferred to the tables. Excellent service and good price. “I walked in and there was nobody in the restaurant which made me wonder about the food but since I was craving tacos al vapor i decided to stop by for a quick bite. I didn’t get a greeting right away, I told the lady in the back hello and she told me she’d be right with me. She took my order from the window of the kitchen and I sat down and sipped on my drink while I waited. The tacos were good, the desebrada was my favorite, it had lots of flavor but I wish the tacos were filled up more. Overall they satisfied my craving and I probably will return one more time. “There are many,many taquerias here in McAllen, some of which my husband and I have yet to try; but out of all the ones that we have tried- Taqueria La Patrona is undoubtedly in my top 5 list. Here you have the options of calling in your order and picking it up, arriving and ordering and taking your food home, or simply taking a seat at one of their tables and dining outside underneath their very well built and placed canopy dining area. We had a very kind and attentive waitress that not only was taking orders and serving all the customers, she was keeping the tables/dining area very clean at the same time as well. Speaking of clean, I feel the need to mention that i was very impressed by the fact that being a strictly outdoor dining establishment, they did have a clearly visible and accessible no-touch, portable, hand washing station. Their hand washing station is available/accessible to all customers and serving staff alike. I consider this to be very hygienic, and appropriate. The food was absolutely delicious; I had the fajita tacos and my husband had the birria tacos. The tacos were excellent on portion size and the quality of the meat was awesome, no fat, no grease, no over seasoning or under seasoning. They have a variety of other meals including- tortas, synchronizadas, burger with fries, among other foods. In conclusion, I completely recommend that anyone/everyone give them a try!“
