“Grimaldi's got its start in Brooklyn before spreading out around the country, including a handful of branches around Dallas. We recently dined at their this place at The Shops in Highland Village. This branch offers a large indoor seating area as well as a bar and is open from 11am until 10 or 11pm daily. They have a fairly typical menu of starter salads along with their signature thin-crust, coal-fired brick over pizzas which we found to be generally good during on the evening. Shared a couple of different varieties with custom topping choices, one of the pizzas crust was perfect, the other fairly soggy but overall it tasted good. Salad served up with our meal was similarly decent, nothing amazing nor bad - just decent salad. We thought the large pizzas made for good family-friendly and casual meal out with friends.“

“This is by far my favorite pizza ever! We found them accidentally as we were looking for food delivery late night and they were one of the few open and we are SO happy we found Zalat! “I was born in Indiana. When I was around 4 or 5 my Dad and used to take me to a Mr. Gattis in our small town. The memories I had were great. It reminds me of when everything was simpler and when I knew less. We recently moved to Denton. I wanted to go to a different Walmart because the one in Denton gets packed and sketchy in the evenings. As I was walking in, the bright Mr. Gatti's sign was right in front of me. I was enthralled. I immediately sent a picture to my Dad, and called my wife. My wife also went when she was a kid, and I had no idea. I forgot I even had memories of the place. We planned to go with both of our kids the following Sunday. Sunday finally came, we loaded the kids up, and we went. The space was small, but the memories are what mattered. There were now 3 generations in our family that had been, and I was proud of that. The pizza finally came. The staff were so kind and knew it meant a lot to us. Then I took the first bite.

The scene where the critic takes his first bite in Ratatouille; That was me and my wife in that moment.

We were smiling ear to ear.

As I was sitting there I realized, places like Mr. Gattis are what remind us of the little joys in life.
