Hey there! I want to make it clear that I’m usually all about Salvadoran pupusas! But honestly, folks, these pupusas give several restaurants a run for their money. I like to speak the truth—and let my taste buds do the talking! I recommend them 100%. I’ve lived in various parts of Houston—including the heavily Hispanic areas in the south—and even though I’ve moved further south, the flavor here is #1 in my humble opinion.
Pupusas were delicious. Not too soft yet not hard, the right crisp.

Chencha’s Taqueria & Pupuseria is a delicious gem known for big portions and great prices. The pastelitos, pupusas, and horchata are highly recommended. The food is full of flavor, and the Cortido is a tasty addition. One customer enjoyed the combo plate with a tamal, pupusa, and fried banana, and another praised the seafood platter, stating it is authentic Salvadoran food at very good prices. Although the wait for food can be around 15-20 minutes, it is worth it. The friendly staff makes ordering easy, even for those who do not speak Spanish, helping create a welcoming atmosphere. However, one customer noted a mix-up with takeout and spicy sauce. Overall, Chencha’s is a place that many can't wait to return to and try more dishes.
