“My first experience was indoors, yummy breakfast taco. Second visit was a chicken fajita plate…beans etc tortillas lettuce and chicken. Chicken tasted like it had been boiled, then chopped and salt and pepper added. I can do that for myself. Brought it home and fed it to my dog. Plus there’s no indoor dining anymore. Very disappointing and I will not be back. Save your money.”

“Absolutely love this place, great beer, awesome family friendly vibes. My kid loves feeding the roaming chickens and ducks. They have great scratch made foods and snacks. The honey moon mead and volkbier German lager are my favorites. Definitely a hidden little gem! If you’re thinking about checking this place out. Just do it!”

“Great place. But I would have to agree with David rudeness has no place when serving customers. The waitress from Bastrop had attitude when asked questions or requests were made. I hope it is short lived as they said owners were on vacation. The other employee took our order and checked us out was very nice and helpful. Several really good meads and beers. My rating is strictly due to interactions with and witnessed of the one employee.”

“First time here and enjoyed it! Employees were all welcoming and kind, place was clean, wait time on food was expected, drinks were at a decent price and tasty, everyone enjoyed their time! We had the special on Saturday night which was the pizza, I've had gastric bypass and greasy food upsets my stomach big time yet I can eat small portions of bad food but this pizza here was barely greasy! The pizza was awesome, like I said barely greasy, I enjoyed each bite and didn't have a stomach ache afterwards. The jalapeno poppers, which ever since the surgery jalapenos or anything spicy now upsets my stomach but the jalapeno poppers I was able to eat which surprised me! Now I know where to get some good pizza and jalapeno poppers, this is perfect for people who don't like greasy pizza or jalapeno poppers that are too spicy. Though if you if you add jalapenos on the pizza, those now are spicy! Next on my list is the try the crawfish fries!!”

“The Back Porch is the real deal! This place is a hidden Texas gem that’s absolutely worth the drive. The food was excellent, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was exactly what you want in a great Texas restaurant—comfortable, very clean, friendly, and welcoming.

The food was incredible, but those onion rings… WOW! Easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The menu has something for everyone, so it’s a perfect spot for families, friends, or just a great meal.

“Friendly staff let me stay for the whole day and work while I traveled here from Houston to visit their town Vet. Breakfast panini was excellent. Christian music playlist made for a great atmosphere. Wholesome place you rarely find these days.”

“I don't know who is cooking there but they arent getting paid enough! The food is fantastic! Had pork chops,mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Best meal I have had in a restauraunt in a long while. They also had Tres Leches cake. I grew up in San Antonio and have had it many times over the years. All those years it was wrong. This was the best TL cake I have ever had. Like it was made in heaven and sent to the kitchen. At a sports bar I expected chicken strips, hamburgers, fried pickles so I was blown away. Well done to anyone who had anything to do with it.”

“Small, local cafe with friendly service and fresh tasty home style meals. A nice mix of American and Mexican dishes and also serving breakfast. The taco salad was fresh with generous avocado and the chips and salsa were incredibly good with a nice kick of heat. Stopped in on the way to Bastrop and highly recommend over the typical fast food options!”

“The food is great. Friendly employees love your tacos they are full with meat and toppings. LaGrange DQ is the best around. I live in Schulenburg and I will drive 20 miles to eat here. Ours is no good.”
