The owners personally delivered and set up our order, even making the drive all the way from Plano to Dallas. We are huge fans of the red velvet and chocolate chocolate chip which pair beautifully with their cream cheese frosting and are always so moist and wonderful. However, the customer service is what really sets this location apart. I was greeted warmly by smiling faces who were eager to help and watched several customers get in and out super quick while I was there. I had a special request and the owners were happy to try to make it happen and the results were better than I could have hoped. My teenage son was surprised and delighted and that memory will be a highlight forever. Thank you for making that happen!“

I was kind of hesitant, but as they say when in Rome and I’m telling you what I was highly surprised completely amazed so much that I looked into getting a franchise of these back home, I spoke with the owner of this franchise here, Kirk Super awesome guy told me all about the business but what really sells it is all the different flavors and the quality of a gourmet popsicle. This isn’t cheap little popsicle truck with cheap popsicles. This is high-quality good stuff.“

Since you have to use a kiosk to pre-order and pay (without declaring desired flavors) the available flavors are difficult to know until the moment you're order # is called. This creates a bottleneck and invasion of personal space at times. I ordered a cup with 4 flavors but ended up doubling up on 2 instead to save time and hassel.“

But dessert? Dessert is nonnegotiable. It’s right up there with water, oxygen, and the invention of air conditioning in Texas.

Enter Unrefined Bakery in Plano.

Sweet merciful Jesus.

I ordered the monster cookie, vanilla and strawberry cupcake, apple caramel cupcake, and cinnamon roll with dairy-free icing. Because after a year in dessert purgatory, exercising restraint seemed profoundly unnecessary.

And every single thing was fantastic.

The cupcakes were the undisputed champions, with the monster cookie breathing down their necks. Beautifully soft, packed with flavor, and mercifully devoid of that dense, gritty texture that makes some gluten-free baked goods resemble construction materials salvaged from a Home Depot parking lot.

Even the cinnamon roll delivered, with its dairy-free icing proving that deliciousness doesn’t require a dairy cow’s participation.

What I love about Unrefined is that nothing tastes like a compromise. These aren’t sad little dietary substitutes desperately impersonating actual desserts.

They’re the real deal.

After more than a year of watching everyone else demolish cupcakes while I contemplated my increasingly joyless existence, finding this place felt monumental.

Unrefined Bakery has officially resurrected dessert for me.

And I intend to make up for lost time.“

But what really made our visit special was how sweet and welcoming the owners were. The wife was so kind and thoughtful. She asked my daughter if she wanted whipped cream with her chocolate milk, and my daughter absolutely loved her drink. 🥰 Highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon.“
