Greens and Lemons is a restaurant located in north McAllen, near Sam's. The atmosphere is modern and pleasant, making it a great spot for a day date. The menu offers a variety of dishes, and the restaurant does not overemphasize its healthy options. Recent reviews highlight the fantastic food, with many guests enjoying the Middle Eastern plate, which allows for a variety of flavors, including the highly recommended dolmas. The hummus appetizer is also praised, especially when paired with pita chips.
The restaurant offers homemade hummus that is well-seasoned and not too oily. The fried cauliflower is a must-try, as it is crispy, firm, and dressed in buffalo sauce. The cucumber lemonade water is a refreshing option that many guests have enjoyed. The green fish ceviche is a standout dish, with large chunks of cod that are soft and not rubbery. The sweetness of the green apple balances the sourness of the lime. The poke bowl remains a solid option, with fresh chunks of fish and a well-dressed base.
The lamb kabobs are described as more like ground lamb formed onto skewers, which some found unexpected. The Greek bowl with lamb could use some improvement, as the lamb was slightly dry. However, the flavors were still enjoyable.
The service has been noted as timely, with polite staff. The decor, tables, and presentation of the dishes are absolutely lovely, showcasing the owner's beautiful vision for the place. The almond crusted chicken, made with almond flour, was less impressive, tasting as if it had been heated in a microwave. However, the falafel was fresh and tasty.
Overall, Greens and Lemons offers a solid dining experience with some standout dishes like the Mango Habanero Salmon and Chimichurri Chicken. Prices are reasonable, with the total bill for hummus, fried cauliflower, green fish ceviche, and poke bowl coming to $56. Many customers look forward to returning to try other dishes, such as the Pistachio Salmon.
