“After my sister dropping off her dog at Muddy Paws around the corner from Papa Joe's we decided to eat in at about 8am Saturday. We both ordered bacon egg and cheese tacos. It came with a small serving of refried beans, a 1 oz cup of salsa and tortilla chips. The meal was very cheap ($2.25) and very delicious. It was plenty and kept us til lunch. For someone not familiar with the area and not from Mercedes, this was a great choice. Thank you Papa Joe's. We'll visit again soon.“

And speaking of quality—after I finished eating, I found out that the restaurant grinds its meat in-house every morning. That little detail explains a lot about the freshness and flavor of the burger. I even tried to dig into the secrets of their burger recipe, but the staff—who were incredibly friendly, by the way—kept those details locked up tight. Still, the service added to the experience. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and that attitude carries over to the energy of the restaurant. After 44 years of eating burgers all over the place, I can confidently say this one ranks at the very top of my list. Between the flavorful, juicy meat, the perfectly cooked bacon, and the welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant delivers a burger experience that’s hard to beat. “Went to Cheddars on 12/05 for my daughters 18th birthday our wait time was a bit long since we were a party of 15. I do want to thank manger Alyssa for making sure once we were seated we were comfortable and for her patience 😅 (since we getting a little hangry) (iykyk 😂) Pedro (our server) was exceptional from the start making us feel very welcoming and for being very patient with us it was one guy against 15 hungry 🤣 people lol. “I need to upgrade my review for this LongHorn Steakhouse. I noticed I left a 2-star review back in 2017 after a disappointing experience. I've returned several times since then, and, after that visit in 2017, has been consistently positive since. Restaurants tend to have high employee turnover rates, and can have personnel issues from time to time - especially on challenging days when they're getting slammed like on that Mother's Day. So here's my redemption review...

This LongHorn Steakhouse is located on the north side of Interstate 2 (Expressway 83) in Weslaco, in front of the JCP and Academy stores and in between Texas Blvd. And N. Bridge Road.

The current management has maintained the property well. It is a handsome building with the trademark stonework facade, nicely landscaped, with ample, well lit parking. It is handicapped accessible, and high chairs for toddlers are available. It would be good for small groups as well as family get-togethers, and business lunch or date night.

They offer their signature steaks, burgers, salmon, chicken, some comfort food like their excellent mac n cheese, salads, and more.

I met some friends here for a late lunch on a Saturday around 4 PM. There was no wait. Our server did an incredible job, was friendly, attentive, and checked back on us several times. She kept our drinks filled and even offered a to-go cup as we were wrapping up.

The fresh baked bread and butter was delicious, served along with our drinks while we looked over the menu.

I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. I noticed the potato had a lot of salt encrusted on the skin, but since I did not eat the skin, it was not a problem - though it could be an issue for those on low-sodium diets. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy on the outside for the most part... I would have enjoyed them more a bit crisper and with some Balsamic vinager, but they were still pretty good. The steak was cooked as requested and delicious.

There was some background music, but it was at a decent level so it did not hinder our conversation.

I really enjoyed this visit and dining experience, recommend this LongHorn Steakhouse, and based on my last three visits am awarding them the full five stars.“

“The $25 special for two is good. The steak tasted good but had a lot of gristle. The chicken was very good. The side salads are huge! Service was also good. It took 30 minutes to get our entrée. Margaritas were excellent & happy hour price was extremely low. The only complaint for every Applebee's is the music is way too loud!!“

“Checked out JC Wings after a recommendation that they have the best wings in the Valley. I can’t really argue with that because the wings were excellent. Thursday special was 6 boneless wings, fries and unsweetened tea. I got the lemon pepper and friend got the JC sauce. Both were tasty and wings were large chunks of white meat, gently breaded. Seasoned fries were perfect and I got a custom burger on the side that was well cooked, sturdy bun that didn’t fall apart, and tea was fresh. We weren’t sure that it was even open when we pulled up, but the place quickly filled with locals and we realized we just beat the rush. Staff was friendly and helpful.“
