The Porch Pour in Midlothian, located in a charming 1873 Victorian house, offers a delightful dining experience. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is enjoyable, set in a parlor room of the relocated historic building. The cocktails are creative and the wine list is adequate.
Brunch options are plentiful, with eggs benedict being a standout choice. The ham benny is served with peaches and avocado, while the steak includes spinach. The potatoes are perfectly prepared with a crispy exterior and soft interior.
The marrow bones appetizer is a must-try, with two halves of a shank bone roasted to perfection. However, the oysters "Rockefeller" were an odd deviation from the traditional preparation, served with a creamy cheese sauce instead of the usual herbs, absinthe, and bivalve.
The osso buco is nicely done, but could benefit from a spoonful of gremolata. However, the pork chop in peach bourbon sauce was a disappointment. Ordered rare, it arrived overcooked and wrapped in a coal black bacon strip. Despite this setback, the Porch Pour is still worth visiting for its charming atmosphere and creative cocktails.
