“Three of us went for a Sunday afternoon meal and we were glad we did. The ox tails were fork tender and well seasoned. The sides (collard greens, okra and tomatoes, yams, red beans) were flavorful. The cornbread was like home cooked!! The desserts (Italian Cream cake, peach cobbler and lemon cake) were very good. The service was outstanding!!! The servers were all pleasant and smiling. Staff checked on us several times during our meal. The owner checked on diners personally. We really enjoyed talking to him. You could tell he had a passion for good food and making people feel appreciated. We will definitely visit again.“

“Kinfolks are my kind of people. The service is great, and mother and daughter is a great team. The food is great and I am always happy with the food and excellent example of customer service. I also feel in love with the kids they show the same warmeth of there parents and grand parents. This is my place to go for delicious soul food and will tell any one that don't live in the area take a drive and stop here to eat or take out.It is a gift for my family and I.“

“My family is from New Orleans, after losing both parents and an older brother during the Holidays, I decided to cater from Ms Catherine rather than cook for myself. It was truly the best decision. Absolutely all of the Holiday meal was definitely like being back home. Everything was very good, and reasonably priced. I have returned for the fried ribs. GAME CHANGER! Ms Catherine is a very kind soul! Her staff is very nice and helpful. I will continue to make the drive for good food and good people! Blessings“

“When I say have mercy… have mercy… yes indeed this food is excellent and we did reg spice and enough for us because it’s so tasty. I did oxtails and shrimp and can get 3 servings out of my plate. My hubby did a pasta… are it all though. lol. My daughter did fried shrimp and can get 2 meals out of it. Try many dishes and share. They threw in some greens that taste like home. Will order that next time. This was our first visit and they will see us again. Great food. Actually this is from his wife Linda. He agreed though. lol.“

“My wife was craving pupusas but I was craving pollo asado so we ordered both.The pupusas were big and stuffed with cheese. The curtido had the perfect “pickled” taste. The salsa was tasty with a kick!The pollo asado plate fed us both and we had enough left over for a second round each. The pollo asado was very flavorful and the smoked sausages were a nice surprise. The rice was good and the charro beans were delicious. They had a good amount of sausage and bacon in them.“

“I have been going here off and on for about 10 years, I absolutely love it!
The ox tails are my favorite, they are absolutely amazing. Finally got to take one of my grandbabies when he was about one, gave him and ox tail and we couldn't hardly get the bone back from him. I ate so much, he loved it.

Ms. Marlene is such a wonderful person to work with, she made sure that our moving journey went smoothly and we had no hiccups or issues. Ms. D is as well, she made sure we felt comfortable and welcome to the complex as we were picking up our keys to move in. We’ve been here for a week now and we’re loving it so far.
Everything you could imagine is virtually in walking distance or a short bus/car ride away. It’s quiet and so far nothing has been going on (hopefully it stays this way🙂). Any questions, comments, or concerns I’ve had since moving in have been answered and responded to swiftly and with urgency, I’ve never had an issue with connecting to someone in the office or via email.
The allowed me to make this complex my home even with my previous rental records and I’m thankful🫶🏽“

“I’m so disappointed—I went today for my usual beef tips, only to find out she’s no longer here. I’ve tried every soul food spot in Houston, and this place was hands down the best. Please let me know if there’s a new location because I’m coming for sure!“
