Las Islas Marias - Military is a Southside gem and a favorite Mexican fish restaurant. It offers amazing food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere that gives a coastal vibe without traveling. The restaurant has a great variety of soups and fish, shell fish and lobster dishes. Favorites include the big lobster plate, Prescado relleno, the Spicy Seafood Paella loaded with shrimp, mussels, octopus, and a crab leg, and Los camarones Zariandados. The Calamari appetizer is cooked to perfection. Food is always consistent and well tasting, with cooked vegetables replaced by a better salad. Customer service and atmosphere are always impeccable. A waitress named Xotichl is very prompt and polite, and Mirella is always attentive and smiling. The fish soup is large enough to take home, and the deep fried fish with garlic is also recommended. This is a must-stop restaurant in San Antonio.
