“ALL OTHER TACO PLACES SHOULD BE SCARED RIGHT NOW! - First off, other places that claim they have "birria" on their menu should learn from these taco geniuses; the meat and cheese was perfect and the consome was way more than just taco flavored au jus like other restaurants offer. - Secondly, they're my new favorite michelada spot. Anyone who doesnt think they're the bomb still haven't gotten their sense of taste back from Covid. - Lastly, so many other places that offer al pastor tacos suffer from over-seasoning (to cover up for low quality meat), are too dry, or are just bland. NOT THE CASE WITH CALACAS! Seriously the best tacos this side of the border. If I go into a food coma because of this place, DO. NOT. RESUSCITATE. This is how I want to go out...”

“What a cozy place that transports you to another place and time. Even tho you're in the middle of an island, the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in the middle of the big city, just enjoying a glass a wine. Wednesday's are 1/2 off of bottles, and with the live music it made for a great experience!!! A must try if you're in South Padre Island ?”

“We really enjoyed our meals! This place is great. The negatives: calamari was chewy, and the music too loud but not a deal breaker. Everything else was excellent. Our server Pedro was great, the food was tasty and piping hot. We enjoyed the atmosphere, it’s great for families and within walking distance from multiple hotels.”

“clean, neat, modern,and an excellent place to stay and meet people, Staff is pleasant professional and a lot of fun to talk to. They have a Cafe right on premise that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. You can walk out to the beach plus they have an out door heated pool. it's handicap excessable there are two floors that you can view the water coming in and the sun rises and sun sets. You could also walk to various attractions and rent a scooter. I give it 200 % place to go”

“What a great vibe! Peter really knows his stuff and is a veritable mind-reader like you’d want a bartender to be. We came for a place to buy and smoke a cigar (forget other places on the island for selection), but wound up genuinely amazed at the understated, effortless way this place does its job. Simple bar food, but done well. Nothing “upscale” or “cheffy”, but really great examples of whatever it’s supposed to be. Like the chili dog. Try it! A great bun that can stand up to the chili, a good dog, and a pretty damned good chili! The queso fundido rocks, too. Throw in a laid back cat and dog (the mascot), a wooden Castro by the door, and you’ve got a place with its own distinct character. Oh, and don’t be confused by the doors. Upstairs is non-smoking, downstairs is smoking. Seriously give this place a shot. It’s a bit out of the way, but deserves high praise!”

“After going to the restaurant next door and realizing that you had to own a Rolls-Royce to even eat there. We took the family next door to Coconut Jacks and had a great experience. The bacon wrapped shrimp was fire!!!! Me, the wife, and 3 kiddos ate, drank and laughed for a great price.”

“My mom, daughter and I drove around for a while because most restaurants were packed. Then we drove by this place and saw it wasn't and decided to try it out. It was so good!!! We both got the mexican plate (taco and enchiladas) and daughter got queso and chips (she's picky). All of it was really good. The host and the waiter were cool. I would definitely come back for food and service!”

“First timer here...I was a bit hesitant in going due to the mixed reviews, but I'm glad we gave it a try. Our server Brandon was phenomenal and the place is nice. It was a bit warm but everything else made up for it. They have some of the best fettuccine alfredo we've tried. Definitely a go to restaurant whenever you're at the island.”

“What is better than ice cream after watching a very successful Starship 10 launch. Loved my banana split. Port Isabel is so great! Then, when I went to leave, I saw the coolest three level go-cart track. I love south texas!!!!”

“Cool place to see a concert and hang put with friends, staff was cool, view of the ocean was excellent. Food was reasonably priced and decent, drinks were super expensive in my opinion, but tasty. Had a overall really good experience and would go back for sure.”

“honestly one of the best environments i’ve ever been in, the owner is so friendly with everyone who comes in and makes jokes with every person. the food is a 10000/10 and it’s so close to the beach!!”

“They charge 15$ a day for self parking that’s the only think I don’t care about . Also we found glass in are room we asked to get it cleaned and after it was cleaned we where finding more glass . We did notify the front desk. Other then that pool was great . A lot of walking around and seeing cool things .”

“This one of our MUST STOPS when we come to the Island. The food is incredible and very consistent. Service is incredible. The staff makes you feel at home and being in a “tourist destination”, you feel like you’re dining with someone you have known forever!! We will forever stop by every time we are in the area. Did I mention the food is AMAZING and CONSISTENT!!!”
