“after moving here from California 6 years ago it's been very difficult to find a restaurant that serves a good menudo. I've tried many many places. yesterday my husband picked up my menudo order from El Jilo, brought it home, and I finally found it. you make the best menudo. so flavorful and full of tripe, just delicious. in addition, fresh homemade corn tortillas. you can't beat it. will be coming back for sure.“

“This place is a hidden gem. My wife and I tried it out because there weren't many Mexican restaurants open Sunday evening and it was a pleasant surprise! First off, the chips and salsa are homemade. They also give you a cup of sopita de coditos/conchas and it was so flavorful. The aguas frescas are delicious. I had pepino con limón and my wife tried the sandia and both were excellent. For the entree she had a quesadilla, which was made with a homemade corn tortilla, and a gordita and both were so good. I had a super burrito and I loved it as well. In the end we were both full and content. If you're looking for authentic homemade dishes and great service from a very nice and humble family, this is the place to go.“

“my husband and were looking for a new place to eat and unfortunately we chose here due to it being right down the street from where we live. This establishment says they are open until 10, which they are not. When we arrived at the restaurant it was before 9 pm. There was not but one or two people inside the restaurant so I knew we would be in and out fast. The waitress seemed a little irritated, which I didn't understand at first, but now I realize it's because everywhere online says this restaurant is open until 10, but they close at 9. So when we arrived they should have actually been closing. I would never go to a restaurant right when they are closing. When we were leaving the establishment well before 10, we let the owner know the food was great and we'd be back. All he said was "yes we close at 9/920". I called the restaurant the next day to apologize for coming in so late because I would never do that, and let them know that the website says they are open until 10. The owner of this restaurant actually went off on me until the point where I was crying lol. 😅 (I've read before he was very ugly to his employees which is why he can't keep workers. Maybe why he's so short staffed?) He said I had no compassion for the employee he had making her stay late when she was sick, saying he's the owner and he gets to choose when they close daily, things of that nature. I told him I had no clue why he was going off on me when I called to apologize for coming in so late, and notify them they may need to update their times on the website. I was not trying to complain to anyone, not posting reviews, anything. Just trying to notify straight to him. I asked my husband to come in the room while I was on the phone with the owner, and THEN the owner started apologizing and asking us to come back. Then after ending the call because I was so upset, the owner tried to call me again. I called back to him and he again was apologizing asking us to come back, saying he was the owner and needs more workers, etc. While telling him why I was upset and why I would not be coming back, he handed the phone over to a waitress instead of talking to me about the issues. I apologized to the waitress because this is not her problem to deal with and ended it at that.“

“We were visiting Tyler and staying at a Hotel. Wanted mexican food for dinner to take back to the hotel. Mercado's did a wonderful job. Ordered nachos and margaritas to go. It was so delicious and they supplied everything needed to make it a wonderful meal to eat in our hotel room. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting amazing mexican food.“

Omar was so helpful in recommendations but also my server soulmate 😍 He was always attentive but not annoying helpful but not trying to tell you what you want. He just knew! “The food was hot, fresh and delicious! Portions are great too! The host is super sweet and accommodating. Our server Dawn,
was friendly, happy and efficient! I don’t know how long she’s been there but she knows her stuff. Asked if we wanted an appetizer and suggested the queso which was so good! Our drinks were always full and she stopped by multiple times to be sure we were all good. We also liked their shirts that say “Our managers can solve problems better today than they can on social media tomorrow.” I think that also speaks volumes of the owners and staff! All were smiling and looked happy to be there. Definitely recommend!“

“I will drive fom Dallas just to eat a dish called aporrado ( eggs smothered in a tasty sauce with dry meat . traditional dish of southern part of Mexico. Menudo is delicious. Aguas frescas are refreshing. This place sells awesome fresh tortillas.

(I was the girl that showed up in a black dress with a white headband around 12:30pm). The food is absolutely phenomenal and I love traditional Mexican food.
