“Recently ate here for the first time. Made the trip from Salt Lake to explore the area and celebrate my birthday with dinner at Hell’s Backbone. It was so good we not only had my birthday dinner, but went back the next night. Service was excellent, food was superb and the entire vibe of the place just felt right. It was a perfect fit! I’ll definitely be back.“

“This restaurant is located at the intersection of the famous Utah State Highway 12 (UT-12) and Burr Trail Road in Boulder. We found out that this highly rated restaurant lives up to its hype when we stopped in for lunch while enroute to Escalante, Utah. It uses locally sourced grass-fed beef burgers, fresh salads, and renowned from-scratch pies (berry pies are the best). It is a truly a rustic, western-style roadside joint featuring both indoor and shaded outdoor seating with stunning views of the surrounding red rock landscape. For coffee lovers, there is the Tumbleweed Coffee shop adjacent to the grill serving hot espresso drinks, tea, and grab-and-go morning items. It is perfectly situated midway between Escalante and Capitol Reef National Park making it a great dining location. However, this is a seasonal establishment that is only open during the spring and fall tourism months before closing for the winter.“

“Our group of 12 stayed at the guest house and we are at the Sweetwater Kitchen. Both places are amazing! We had the best steak, trout tacos, pasta, polenta fries, chicken, and desserts!! So delicious, and such great service! Will for sure plan a trip around this place again!“
