Cafe Rio Mexican Grill Reviews
I think the food has improved just recently. The red vinaigrette chipotle dressing is very good and the Utah burrito is interesting in a good way.. The staff is hit and miss. It always seems like they're working overtime and just need a vacation or they're super nice and happy. Kind of no inbetween.
I just had my first visit to this chain as a whole—and this was the location. The place was hopping and I really dug the hip vibes. I compared this to Qdoba or Chipotle —and I think I like Cafe Rio better. I appreciate the variety of chicken options. What I remember the most after dining here was the Mint Lemonade and cilantro-lime vinaigrette dressing—both of these were flavor bombs. A big thumbs up for Cafe Rio!
Always bomb!!!

Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican offers a mixed experience. Some customers find the food just okay, while others love it and call it the nicest Cafe Rio in Salt Lake, worth the drive. The staff speaks both Spanish and English, and the portions are generous—some reviewers mention how the lady making their bowl really loaded it up. While the Saturday special caused a slight delay in the past, the overall love for Cafe Rio remains strong.
Recent changes include a touch of remodeling to accommodate pick-up orders, with stickers now labeling each dish for clarity. Utensils are also included in to-go bags. Prices have gone up, and portions like the side of beans or niño quesadillas are smaller, though the quesadillas now come with an orange slice. Some customers note occasional mistakes, like missing pico de Gallo or dressing, but the food is still really good. The sweet pork salad disappointed one diner with a hard, cold tortilla, but others recommend taking advantage of daily deals and reward points for free food. The parking situation remains stress-free, and the place is kid-friendly with cheap quesadillas.
