Trade Roots is my go-to gift store. Unique items, all carefully sourced, and fairly priced. It also has a great coffee bar and occasionally hosts community events. The commentators here criticizing the shop as racist based on one shopper’s negative experience are jumping on the wrong bandwagon, imho. I definitely recommend Trade Roots as a great local store.
Been here a few times now and it is a persistent, and always so fulfilling experience. Cappuccino that I had today was particularly well made and worth calling out, very smooth and full-flavored. The wonderful gift shop is worth the trip alone

The coffee shop is one of the few in Arlington, VA that offers cappachino in a mug or cup and saucer, avoiding paper cups, which many customers appreciate. They have a solid coffee selection, including a delicious Vietnamese iced coffee, and a small selection of pastries & hot foods, with lots of vegan options for pastries and food. The environment is friendly and cozy. Outdoor seating near the Westover Farmers Market and library is popular, especially on weekends when you can find people sitting outside at the tables with their families. Visitors love the uplifting experience, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service. Many leave with beautiful home decor purchases, feeling happy and planning to return. The sound of wind chimes and music adds to the cozy atmosphere, making it a feast for the eyes and tummy and such a great communal spot.
