Very sad to hear the Pie Chest is closing, but excited appreciative of the time they were open and happy for them to begin a new chapter. I'm grateful they are offering one more Pie Academy so that I'll have a chance to learn my favorite pie recipe. Now comes the hard part, deciding which one that will be. The Pie Chest is one of those Charlottesville-esque hidden gems. Unfortunately I didn't know how much of a gem it was/is until recently. Highly recommend the apple pie, but you can never go wrong with any of the chocolate pie creations, esp chocolate whiskey. I haven't been able to find another pie/dessert place that comes close.

Airy & friendly (this is also the location for Lone Light Coffee). Four 3-tops inside, two 2-tops outside. Sweet and Savory pies in display cases, coffee, soda, and bourbon vanilla ice cream (!) Friendly, gracious service.
