“In town on vacation visiting, and stumbled to Yama, and it was amazing. The atmosphere is inviting, warm and cozy. Staff professional and kind. My husband and I were blown away be the freshness and flavor of the sushi! The miso soup was on point! The rice cooked well. Had spicy tuna and shrimp tempura.. so good!! We returned with family that had just came back to the US from being in Japan for 5 years.. and they agreed.. so much they went back after we left!!! And my 6 old had the chicken teriyaki with broccoli n rice and loved it!! When we are back in the area, we will definitely stop again!!!“

“This was my first time here and this place is absolutely a hidden gem. I’ll admit from the looks of the building I wasn’t expecting such exceptional service and quality. Our server was so accommodating and nice. Gave us a free desert at the end of our meal and was so attentive to us. The restaurant was quiet and everyone was very friendly and inviting. On top of the amazing service the food was absolutely delicious, I honestly cannot recommend this place enough for someone else. I don’t live nearby but hopefully I can make it a point to return and eat here again.“

“I LOVE Shiki, I get it fairly often for takeout but I've also eaten in the restaurant a few times, I've never had a single problem. The food is hot and delicious and the service is top notch! It's hard for me to find good places to eat as a picky eater but Shiki is always the best!“

“I came here at the recommendation of a Japanese Yoga Instructor who was working in Virginia Beach, and it was amazing! I went by myself, sat at the bar comfortably in peace. I had the Hiro Roll, the New York Roll, the Chanwanmushi, and got I believe Tendon to go, as well as a creme Brule. I could have eaten here every day. The sushi chef is from Nagoya, and very kind. I lived in Japan for 4 years, and this took me right back. Prices also match that! Nothing was ridiculously priced, I just ordered a lot. Hiro Roll was my favorite. Ah, and all with a glass of cold plum wine on a summer day. In total it was around $70, but that was my rolls, with an alcoholic drink, and another meal to go with dessert... Thank you to the entire staff for making such delicious food and keeping such a peaceful atmosphere.“

“Went here over the weekend with some friends as we were looking for a new sushi place to try that central for all of us. This is an absolute hidden gem. Everything we tried was amazing and had perfect texture and flavors. One of very few places that I've been to that I ignored my soy sauce, as everything was absolutely perfectly flavored. “We came here on a Saturday for a birthday dinner with 12 people and made a reservation. It was surprisingly not very busy. There is a small bar by the door where you can order drinks while you wait around if you do end up waiting but we were seated and our orders were all taken. Everything comes with a little miss soup and salad before the cook comes out. The cook will come out with everyone's food at the same time to cook in front of you and make a few jokes and show off his skills. Everything was tasty and it went by in a timely fashion.“

“Place has very friendly staff and food is great! I especially like their coconut shrimp, which is similar to Walnut Shrimp from other Chinese restaurants, but their Coconut Shrimp has a very balanced flavor. The atmosphere is very relaxed. No frills buffet and a great place to just eat and have a good time! Highly recommend, and will definitely be back! 😊“
