“Our AirBnB host recommended Grill 309 during our stay near Culpeper. We loved it so much that we came twice- once for dinner, once for breakfast. We both enjoyed our dinners- I had a yummy fried chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun, while my husband enjoyed his "Greek Burger" which featured a layer of gyro meat (what's so wrong about topping meat with meat?). Anyway, he loved it even if his arteries did not. We returned a few days later for brunch. Honestly, my Greek Omelet was one of the best omelets I've had. I'm not a big egg eater, so often leave a portion of my omelet uneaten. Not so here. The egg was closer to a crepe, and it was filled to perfection. My spicy Bloody Mary was the perfect accompaniment. My husband felt the same about his Western Omelet.... and his pineapple Mimosa. And the best part? We were able to bring our Border Collie to the brunch with us. It was just warm enough to sit on their patio. They brought him water and lots of love. Needless to say, if we are near Culpeper in the future, this will be the first place we go.“
“I frequently visit Raven’s Nest and am always satisfied with the customer service as well as the food and drinks. Hands down my favorite matcha ever is from Raven’s Nest. Just got back from NYC and can say without a doubt, theirs reigns supreme. Atmosphere is eclectic and very cozy. Try the breakfast sandwiches!!“
“Embracing my love for Mexican cuisine, I've had the pleasure of savoring dishes from this region and even indulging in authentic Mexican meals prepared by friends. However, my wife, who grew up in California, insists that the true essence of Mexican food is best experienced on the West Coast. While I've yet to make that journey, I've come to rely on her discerning taste to gauge the authenticity of Mexican flavors.Having sampled Mexican dishes in our local area, including those crafted by genuine Mexican cooks, the consensus is that the flavors, while enjoyable, tend to lean towards an Americanized adaptation. While the food is undeniably good and caters well to American tastes, it falls short of capturing the distinctive and robust flavors characteristic of authentic Mexican cuisine.“
“Staying overnight in Culpeper on our way to Charlottesville, we were looking for a place to get dinner and have a beer. Yelpers steered us toward Beer Hound Brewery, where we could experience the historic district of this charming town, as well as get some tasty beer and snacks. We were welcomed in by the bartenders who let us sample then pick our flights. We did flights of five: Wild Bill, Teddy, Tank, Declan, and Rosco Rye. Also: Tank, Zoeie, Declan, Rosco Rye, and Scottie. The Zoeie was my favorite, as it was a smooth black lager with dark roasted malts. Yum! We noshed on Toto's Tots (cheese, bacon, chives) and sausage pizza. Everything was very affordable and yummers. There were lots of dogs outside on the patio, as well as inside the brewery. It is Beer Hound, after all. We were invited to play trivia, but declined, yet asked to join after we crushed the first round without even competing. What a cute, charming and fun place to grab some beer and light fare. And enjoy trivia night and the company of man's best friend........lots of them.“
“One of the gems of our Burrito & Cupcake girls’ weekend. Burrito says this is a cute little drinking place with really good pizza. The pizza is surprisingly good and exceeded expectations. Burrito had the bacon and arugula pizza ?. It was everything Burrito hoped for and more. From the thin and crispy crust to the ricotta cheese, to the bacon, through the feel good arugula, and finishing with the balsamic drizzle. I could almost almost convince myself this was healthy because of the arugula coverage. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was solid as well. Although, the bacon and arugula pizza was the star of the show. The pretzel bites with beer cheese that are talked up highly on the menu, were a bit of a disappointment in actuality. Really because of the cheese sauce. There needed to be more cheese sauce, served at a hotter temperature, and served in a ceramic bowl or some kind of ramekin versus the little plastic k cup. Improvements could be made. The mugs that hang from the ceiling are very cool and aesthetically pleasing. The deal is you pay $200 and get a mug for life. The mug holds more ounces than the largest pour into a regular glass. However, they only charge mug holders, for the largest pour thereby they essentially get free ounces with every pour. It seems like a neat concept if you are a local and you like to drink and eat pizza. The service could have been a little warmer and more friendly for first timers, but we would still go again - mainly for the pizza.“
“WOW, what a hidden Jem! This is truly a coffee experience, Cody the barista is extremely knowledgeable and willing to teach you all you want to know about the chemistry and brilliance of fantastic coffee. There are homemade desserts as well, and so much more. The design of the build out is quite excellent, and I will certainly, be returning when I have more time to socialize and enjoy a great cup of coffee.“
“My family and I were here this past weekend for the first time. The kids loved it and enjoyed seeing the roosters. I love the wine flights and white sangria with the berries inside. The burger and chicken strips are so good and the fries are to die for. I will be coming back to this peaceful place, can’t wait til summer!!!!!“
“Wow.. I thought I posted my review a while ago but I don't see it here... so, here goes again. WAR Craft Brewery is the bomb! Brad does such an amazing job on his brews. I think he is one of the best home brewers I've tried yet. There is no funny after taste to his beers. He started making his own alcohol and is just waiting for the all ducks to get in a row so he can sell it. He did make his own white and red wines and I have to say his White wine rates up there as one of the BEST Chardonnays I have EVER had- he somehow got the best of oak and steel barrels in this formula. Otherwise they sell some Rapidan Winery wines; good product, but, if its' not his, I'll stick with my Commissar and Toasted Marshmallow syrup. That's the other thing... who ever would have thought to add flavored syrups to brews!!!?? Genius. His ciders are also really great too. the Aloha is the best one. As for the food, its light fare, but man is it awesome. Amanda, Brad's wife and her mom kick out the best Pimento Cheese dip around! They also started doing charcuterie boards and have crafted some very creative ones at that. The ambiance is one a Vet can appreciate. It is a small building, but there is lots of land and outside seating as well. There is a fire pit and they have lawn games people can play while there. Dogs are welcome! And often they will do a Pup of the week and post it on their FB page. We love supporting Brad and Amanda and recommend it as the go to craft brewery when you come to the area. They work their butts off and often get help from Amanda's parents and their kids.“
“This was a lovely winery/brewery/cidery/meadery. I tried 2 wines,a beer, and a mead on a flight and they all were excellent. My husband enjoyed his IPA, and my daughter had a glass of wine. There was a limited amount of indoor (away from the wind) seating, as it was still a little brisk and the wind was going strong. There was also lots of outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. A great place and I look forward to coming back!“
