“Chicken and kubideh had good flavor. Barg had no flavor and tasted steamed. Changeh also did not have much flavor and did not taste like it was grilled. The setup was like a fast food restaurant but they had a tip being added at the cash register. Not sure what the tip is for when we are picking up take out.“

“Hands down the absolute best food I’ve ever had! The lamb kebab was excellent — savory, flavorful, and delicious. And the scallion lamb soup was perfection on a plate! It wasn’t too light, not too heavy, and had the exact amount of spice to finish it. The staff was kind, let us wear Uighur traditional hats, and take photos at the stage. It was the best dine in experience! To top things off, the food is halal!! I cannot recommend this place enough.“

It not only met but exceeded them. Mast-o Musir, yogurt dish with Persian dried shallot and rose petal, was exceptional— more elevated and nuanced than any we’ve had. The mushroom Khoresht stew with white truffle was another highlight, offering perfectly balanced flavors something hard to do with white truffles and a satisfying richness, complemented by the perfectly crunchy Tahdig, iconic golden rice crust. The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

The gyro was equally impressive, fresh, juicy, and incredibly satisfying. You can really tell they use quality ingredients in every bite. I am definitely coming back soon with my friends and family.“

“These are my Afghans so I don’t wanna ruin their reputation. But just giving my personal review. I have been to this restaurant 3-4 times now. Previous visits was good so kept coming. But my most recent visit they got one of the orders wrong so they had to send it back. Took too long. We almost cancel that one because everyone else was almost finished with their food and the food didn’t come almost 30-40 minutes. Also, this time I found a little bit of hair and I just wanted to inform them about it and they didn’t seem to apologize or offer a new plate or anything. They just said all of our people wear head coverings when I brought up that I found hair. From then on out, I lost my appetite. I usually order the ice cream as well, but my appetite was ruined.“

Good value for what you pay. I liked the buffet of veggies and seafood, but my only complaint is that I wish the items were labeled and that each had a utensil.“

“Most nights I stumble in here drunk. Sometimes I make the sober trek from VA. Either way, the pizza is always so fresh. Got the supreme last night and the toppings tasted like they just picked and chopped the vegetables. My cheesesteak was excellent. A solid jumbo slice with an extensive menu is a rare gem these days. Sometimes the food takes a little long, probably because they’re making it fresh. Skip the other places and come here.“

“Not sure why there’s so many bad reviews, this place is great. Local, friendly staff that are attentive to their customers; it was our first time there and they answered our questions We even got two free samosas’s (chicken and veggie) while we waited for our food that were so flavorful and tasty! We got the butter chicken combo platter and chicken & lamb over rice; they were amazing ! Presentation was great and they were so flavourful! We also got a mango lassi that was sooo good; wonderfully creamy, fruity, and refreshing. Highly recommend giving a try and can’t wait to go back!“

“Great potential for the falafel platter, with some missteps that keep it from being five stars.First, the good:- sauces were excellent (toum, shut)- dips were great (hummus, labneh, and a chickpea stew)- bread (shrak) was great- fries were great (served with cilantro)- onion/parsley garnish was very good but needed to be more of it- falafel was good- salata was pretty goodHere’s what can be improved:- the Persian style grilled tomato and grilled onion make no sense as a side for a falafel platter… it should either be served with tabbouleh or chopped raw tomatoes and onion, either of which add freshness and cut through the heavy sauces- speaking of tabbouleh, it was supposed to come with some but didn’t- the fries, falafel and chickpea stew were a little too salty- personal preference: I don’t like pickled beets in general very much, I didn’t like these pickled beets in particular very much, and I strongly feel that pickled cucumbers are superior on a falafelThe good parts about the platter were great. But, the actual falafel wrap was a little off, because it lacked fresh veggies. The sauce, the bread will keep me coming back, but I hope the owners take note of this feedback

“The restaurant has been closed but the market and kebab counter is still in operation. The market has a large selection of Persian and Turkish products. You can find unique tea that isn’t available in other markets. The kebab counter is pretty good. Definitely go check out the market.“
