“We had an Omakase dinner upstairs at the small private sushi bar. What an experience! Freshest, high quality fish, prepared by a wonderful, experienced chef. First place in RVA to have it. With Omakase the chef chooses for you (can request changes for diet/allergy). Different than the sushi menu. Clean. Inventive. We had mackerel, baby scallop, amberjack, sea bass, shrimp, snow crab, sea bream, fluke, salmon, so many tuna varieties, and others. Some simple. Some lightly torched. Some with drops of truffle or wasabi, or sea salt - that all brought out the flavors. The host and chef were so nice and clearly excited to share their artistry! Lovely! Will be back for sure and I can’t believe we have this in RVA. It’s a gift for those who love sushi and want something outside of the typical.“

“Me and my boyfriend came for Valentine’s Day and it was amazing the hostess was so sweet and took us to our amazing seat upstairs. Our servers imoni and Andrea were so attentive to our every need very entertaining and made our experience really worth while. We got so much food 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 sushi rolls and dessert and didn’t spend more than 100 dollars I’d definitely come back and recommend this place for everyone!“

“I live Yoshi Sushi! They have always given me great service and very tasty food. I worked with sushi restaurants for about 10 years and I can say that the quality is great for the price. I always get the Tropical roll, it’s like dessert. The sushi rice is delicious, cooked just right. Nothing worse than sushi with overcooked rice. The foods that come from the kitchen are also great. Shrimp and veggie tempura, hibachi, and yaki soba are among my favorites.“

“I admit that I slept on this place when it first opened. I was expecting a lower price point and more "bar food" and instead it's authentic/elevated Japanese and worth every dollar. The menu changes all the time so you can always try something new.“

“My regular sushi place is closed on Mondays, so I took a chance & ordered from "Not Just Sushi" in the same shopping center as Food Lion, kind of near the new Target on Staples Mill Road, across from the big Kroger, etc... kind of near where the Pizza Hut is in that shopping center.
It was SO GOOD!! I really loved it! I got some kind of roll that was a specialty roll, had shrimp, cream cheese, etc., and a crab salad, and the dumpling things I call pot stickers, everything was absolutely delicious, and what I really liked was that the man was SO incredibly grateful & appreciative for the business, he was so nice and wanted to please, for sure, and that's so nice to find these days!
Y'all go give "Not Just Sushi" a try! You won't regret it!“

“I’m not gonna lie…. We found this place using google maps trying to find somewhere on the way back to my sisters. Not being from the area, it was quite the experience and a little scary. One minute we’re going by all these college buildings, and the next we’re turning down the street where the restaurant is having people knocking on our windows. We didn’t realize whatsoever this was sort of a downtown area.
Parking is very challenging, and honestly with everything going on around us, I gave up because I couldn’t figure out for the life of me which park pay app to use. We learned quick there is only take out as an option anyway.
Ordering was super easy and done on a computer touch screen. I got the chicken hibachi and added a shrimp side as they didn’t do combos of multiple options. The meal came with fried rice and noodles, veggies, and your protein. That totally went over my head not being familiar with what the meal looked like, but I really loved the noodles. The food was good, but overall had a lot of black pepper. There was also a lot of sauce on the food. Maybe teriyaki. We didn’t expect that. I would recommend that being stated somewhere. My husband is a type 1 diabetic and wouldn’t have been able to eat that with the amount of sugar in that sauce plus the carbs! You’re able to pick two sauces to go with your meal. The yum yum sauce is a pinkish color which really threw us off! We also got ginger.
The staff was nice!“
