Tavern on the Rail Event Barn Venue and catering is now closed as a restaurant, but the unique event venue is in full swing. A new restaurant, Lions Den Restaurant, is now in the space that previously housed the Tavern on the Rail restaurant. The restaurant is adorable and very quaint, with an upstairs dining room featuring linen table cloths and a lower area that is more casual. The patio offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Food reviews are mixed. Some guests found the food delicious, with the prime rib being one of the best experienced in the area and the crab cakes delicious. Desserts like cheesecake and key lime pie were out of this world. However, other reviews noted the food was good but not outstanding, with complaints about the crab in the crab cakes tasting old with too much filler, a hamburger dripping with grease, and fish with no flavor. Service varied, with some waiters being sporadic or slow, while the manager was delightful. For catering, Melody is AMAZING, providing beautiful vintage decor and delicious entrees like chicken parmesan and crab/flounder casserole for events.
