“I ordered take away this evening without calling ahead first (unusual for me). It gave me the opportunity to sit and catch up on some correspondence.I listened as the ladies behind the register answered the phones, greeted the constant stream of customers (most of them BY NAME), took payments, passed out to go orders. They did not stop while I was waiting for my order. They were friendly, courteous and seemed genuinely happy to be at work.The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the staff are always smiling.“

“My family and I absolutely love Al Fresco! Definitely a hidden gem in Newport News. My wife and 3 year old daughter come here all the time and always leave happy. We are greeted and treated like family as soon as we walk through the door. Ronaldo (the owner) is almost always present and makes the rounds speaking with the patrons. The bread is fantastic and endless. I always get the Ravioli alla Vodka, which is perfectly made each time. My daughter (who is picky) gets buttered pasta and broccoli, which she happily inhales. If you are on the Peninsula and looking for a high class, friendly, and filling Italian restaurant, this is the place to come to!“

“I ordered 15 pizzas for take out. When I went to pick them up, I was greeted by friendly employees who treated me like I was their family. True Italian hospitality. Excellent customer service and tasty pizza! I rarely leave any reviews, but I had to for this restaurant.“

“The cook was very friendly and down to earth. I asked if I could get my bread separate from my Philly steak and cheese so it would not get soggy when I went to eat it later at work and the cook had no issues with that was super cool. Great looking food tasted a little bit because it's my first time here the rest I'm saving for my work lunch and the food is great good size portion too and the bread smells delicious. “Once a month, I’ll make the 15-20 minute each way drive to get take out for my family. Yes, there are closer places to me to get the same menu items, but Jimmy da Greek is the best! Food is delicious with plenty of options. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The staff members are delightful and friendly, and they appreciate veterans. When the weather is nice, sometimes there’s live entertainment. I highly recommend this place!“

Now to the nitty gritty, the food : Like everyone else is saying their pizza is absolutely delicious and awesome. The spaghetti is pretty darn tasty too !! But my go to are the subs. My plan is overall to try all of them at least once, but my favorites so far are the All American, Philly Steak and Cheese and Roast Beef. I know it's selfish of me but I wish they were open 7 days, but I definitely understand the work/life balance and I am very grateful for your business because on many occasions you have satisfied my hunger throughly and sometimes with a smile on my face afterwards ?“

“My grandmother takes my children and I here when we visit some days. Everything is home made. Bread is amazing. Staff is friendly, patient and very kind. If you're near the Phoebus area of Hampton check them out! Salads are HUGE and delicious! Pizza is huge and flavorful and you HAVE to get the garlic knots.Kid-friendliness: They love children there. My children are 4 and 5 so if they are older I'd say yes!“

“I have been ordering food from this place for 10 years now. For the longest time they were perfect. I would order a large pepperoni, mushroom, garlic, and extra cheese pizza. The amount of toppings were perfect and the cheese was triple the size of the crust. You would almost choke on the cheese as you ate it.Unfortunately something has happened in the past couple of years. Now when I order the same pizza I have been ordering for years there is a greater than 50% chance I don’t get that extra cheese. The rest of the toppings seem to be light too.Out of the four pizzas I have ordered recently only one had the extra cheese.I am willing to pay the money to get what I want. If I need to pay for double cheese that’s fine. If I need to pay for triple cheese that fine too.The issue is that some times when I order extra cheese I get it but most of the time I don’t.I went from ordering a pizza from them once a week to maybe once a month now because of this. Like I said, money isn’t the issue. I’m willing to pay $40 for a pizza. I just want consistency and right now they don’t seem to be able to do that.“

“I ordered food to be delivered. The order was promptly made and quickly arrived. The fries are cooked perfectly, not a fan of the ranch at all. The burger was great with fresh ingredients. I wish there was more of a description of the food in the app because I didn’t know it came with tomatoes. The mozzarella sticks are crispy and fat with cheese! Not a fan of the marina sauce, a bit too watery for me. Next time I will try their pizza.“

The staff was friendly and helpful, even let us know that a large lunch order had come in and food other than pizza would likely take a while -- which was helpful info. The pizzas were both delicious and I plan to go back for calzones or other items. Prices were good too.“

“My best friend and I love it here. The atmosphere has retained the old school Mom and Pop Shop but has not lost its touch in providing fresh Karma delicious, good for the soul foods. “This is a great late night spot. I was a part of a party of 20 folks and they happily accommodated us. The service was excellent. Orders were correct and food was delivered in a timely fashion. I ordered the pizza and a side salad. I also shared a few wings. The ingredients were fresh and the pizza was very good. I rate it 4 out of 5 only based on the overall experience. “Nice little local Italian place. Their red sauce is a tiny bit too acidic for me but still mighty tasty. I highly recommend the Trietto Alla Vodka. Besides that, I typically get the baked ziti, Melanzane Ripiene, chicken Parmigiana, lasagna, or chicken sorentino (when they have it).“
