Chumchum Onigiri Reviews
Aesthetically pleasing, very nice staff, so many delicious food and tasty drinks to choose from! I ordered so much. I will definitely be back to eat more! 😋💕
I love the Pink Matcha Latte drink it tastes really good! Also the beef brisket bulgogi onigiri is the best! Its sweet and savory so I would definitely get this again. The chicken kastsu onigiri is worth it too. The Rosi Chee drink with semi sweet is good but still sweet so I was surprised. Overall, would come here again!
WOW such a delicious matcha latte! I asked for the baristas rec and she said to go for the Sakura Matcha latte (iced) - so tasty, great quality matcha and the perfect boost for a hot day walking around the city.
Service is great, super cute ambiance. Highly recommend, I will be back!

Chumchum Onigiri is a charming and popular spot known for its delicious onigiri, which many customers consider the best they've had outside of Japan. The onigiri are always fresh, flavorful, and served warm, making them a great snack or meal. Highlights include the chicken katsu onigiri, salted duck egg onigiri, and karaage onigiri, with some visitors mentioning that they keep coming back for the consistently good food. The shop has a cute aesthetic and a chill vibe, with friendly staff who provide kind hospitality and even accommodate disabilities. The tea served is highly praised as one of the best, adding to the overall positive experience.
However, the prices are quite high, especially for drinks like the cloud latte and items such as teapots and gift shop products. Some find the gift shop's selection of imported knickknacks and screen-printed clothing disappointing in quality and value. Additionally, the cafe experience can be inconsistent, with some onigiri tasting stale or reheated, and the boba drinks varying in quality.
A point of concern raised by some customers is that the shop carries and supports brands that produce products using horse fat, which is upsetting for horse enthusiasts and raises environmental and animal cruelty questions. Despite these issues, Chumchum Onigiri remains a favorite for many, offering a unique and satisfying Japanese-inspired experience in Richmond.
