TJ's Reviews
The food was really good and the service was exceptional. Price was comparable to other restaurants.
Crabcake was well prepared, mainly lump crab meat, little filler. Cole slaw was much better than average. Peanut soup is not my favorite but was willing to give it a try. Too salty. Shrimp and grits were good along with the andouille sausage. Have been to the Jefferson Hotel before but wanted to go this year to see the Christmas decorations. Recommend it. The Gingerbread House scene was great including the scent of the spices.
We went after the business of the Christmas season (1/2/26) and it was perfect! We were able to enjoy dinner with all the holiday decorations but less of the crowd. Although the menu is limited, it is wonderful. Our table had the salmon piccata, hanger steak and shrimp and grits as well as the crab cake sandwich. All were delicious! The holiday cocktails were also yummy and our waiter was very attentive. All in all - the experience was exactly what Richmonders have come to expect...read full review

TJ's offers a mix of experiences. Some find the atmosphere old and dusty, which can feel like stepping into a time capsule, though the service is often praised as outstanding. The inside area is a bit dark with few windows, but this adds to its charm. The menu includes breakfast options like yogurt & granola bowls, which can be generous but sometimes lack enough yogurt, though requesting extra yogurt works well. For lunch, the lobster on a roll is highly recommended, with many finding it delicious and a generous portion. Overall, TJ's is a good spot for breakfast or lunch, especially for casual get-togethers or business meals, with friendly staff and tasty food.
