“This place has a great atmosphere and the staff is wonderful. We were just driving through Richmond and decided to stop here for a bite. My husband had the brisket sandwich which he said was fantastic. I had the trainwrek that was so large and outstanding I couldn’t finish it and have leftovers. The food is fresh and has exquisite flavor! If I’m ever in Richmond again I will be returning.“

“Well researched food, solidly composed cocktails, and a warm interior make The Roosevelt one of the most talked about restaurants in RVA currently. Chef Leah is as much a researcher as she is a good chef. Being a long time food writer who has been on assignment in many kitchens, its no surprise to me that Leah has carved out a reputation for herself in Richmond recently. She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.“

“Finally back to peak performance!! After covid I felt the food was just ok but last night everything was delicious!! I loved that they actually had some new things in the menu too! The escargot was the item I was hoping would be back to snuff and it didn't disappoint!! The people were a lot more friendly than in the ‘old days' too. Our waitress was especially awesome. “I supprised my wife and took her for a early dinner on Sunday, September 6th, 2027. We had a 2:15 pm reservation, but arrived about 1:50 and were greated very warmly by one of the host. We we seated promptly in about the center of the room. And although the table wobbled a bit, we were ok. Our server, David appoligized because he had not greated us immediately but the place was very busy. We ordered three appitizers, buffalo shrimp, Tia Chili shrimp with the sauce on the side and corn bread cakes. Well. We should have and could have stopped right there because we received the largest, perfectly prepared shrimp that were served hot! They were magnificent!!!. The conrbread was to die for. We we had to do more so I ordered the fried smothered porkchops with mack and cheese, steweed tomatoes and french fries (why did I do that). My wife ordered the chicken liver and onions, collards and candied yams and we spean the rest of the meal eating off each others plates it was so good!. But we both had to tap out because we were stuffed. But did I stop their? No way, I ordered the half roasted chicken with two sides to go as well because I knew my wife would be hungry later that evening and would raid my plate and I wanted to enjoy the food one more time later that evening. I said all this because I pray that everyone has such a wonderful experience that I did. Also the staff really look out for one another and I really appreciated the diversity in the workers in the restaurant as well. Thanks Southern Kitchen we will be back.“

Waitress wrote collardgreens on my order but someone didn't read and gave me cabbage. Also gave me a teaspoon of potato salad .I came from Chesterfield to be disappointed. A 40.00 meal 0“

“Definitely 5 stars! Me and my daughter went for brunch, a pitcher of Mimosas and the best breakfast I've ever had. My daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy. They were so good, almost like a she-crab bisque flavor gravy-absolutely wonderful. I ordered the chicken biscuit, was also wonderful, the hot honey with the fresh homemade Bisquit was so flavorful. No wait to be seated, the waitstaff was very friendly. Definitely recommend and definitely will go back!“

“Isabella who is was very attentive to my every need. She was detailed asked questions regarding my food choices and even carried on a conversation with my daughter after I had paid for my meal. The bar was loud which was ok and I ordered an old fashion which tasted like dirty water and fruit. Yuck. My meal was very very good , was even good late the same evening. Had catfish bites Friedan’s Caesar salad to wash down a Coca-Cola. Great spot - good food- and the staff is amazing. Thanks for making this trip worry free for food/coke“

“Amazing food! The jalapeño poppers are amazing. Chicken sandwich with pimento next level! The pimento and pickles and all the glazes and jams are house made. Kids meals are a great price and good portions!

You actually get allot of food.
The only downside is it's an establishment where you have outside seating/your car.
It's best to stay near the window so you can hear your name being called on the intercom.“
