I was going to get the firecracker shrimp but they had some Reuben sandwiches left from Saint Patties Day so we both had them and we weren’t disappointed! “Dinner at Alewife was the highlight of our five-day visit to Richmond. First off, it was a relief to get out of downtown Richmond with its huge empty parking lots, boarded up storefronts and deserted streets. The historic Church Hill section, with its 19th century row and other houses and interesting looking restaurants and shops, was such a pleasant change. Parking near Alewife was a bit of a challenge, but we quickly found a spot just a block away.The restaurant itself has a fascinating vibe, part friendly neighborhood spot and part disarmingly upmarket dining room. You just knew the food would be interesting, and it was. We started with a gin and tonic and a non-alcoholic beer. The menu is fairly short and apparently changes nightly, or at least frequently.I would never in this world think that I would enjoy an appetizer of raw oysters, bright green pickle juice, creme fraiche and fresh dill. But it was an amazing flavor combination. My partner's appetizer was equally interesting -- lox on thick, toasted rustic bread.As mains, we had the arctic char, with grilled carrots, and the skate, both perfectly prepared and delicious. Service throughout the meal was just right -- friendly, attentive but not overly so. Our charge for two, including tip, was around $150, well worth the price. Thank you for a great meal experience!“

“This was my first time going here. The food and service was great. The environment was nice waterfront dining. There are boat docks and piers and a river side burm that people were able to fish from. The parking was easy and plentiful however I have heard in the peak season during the nice weather it gets very crowded so parking may be more of a challenge and possibly a wait to get in. They do have a waiting area with firepits and drink service which is a nice feature. I have also heard they have live music during the peak season. I checked the website and they have a good line up of live music coming this spring and summer. I am looking forward to going back during peak season to enjoy the waterside atmosphere with live music. I think this may be my new favorite go to place for the spring and summer. The food was great, they have good appetizers and personal pizza choices also like a Greek and Italian style and they had good beer choices and drink options. IPA’s like Stones and Falcon Smash and a Blackberry cider. There were lots of other food choices on the menu also. I recommend you try this place for the atmosphere, the drinks and the food.“

“It was fine. It wasnt mind blowing. The main reason i went there was for the cheese wheel. Apparently, it's only there when the manager is there. Not big, ting place, but we squeezed in at the bar and made bar buddies with the couple sitting next to us since we were bumping elbows. I ordered the Oyster Mushroom meal, and it was one of the most amazing dishes I've ever eaten. Didn't even know you could make it into a full meal. My buddy got fresh made sausage, which he gave me a bite of, and it was incredible as well. If you want some top of line Italian food and not the normal stuff, you need to try Dinamo!“

“I’ve eaten here for the past two weekends. The #1 jumbo males are my favorite. Last weekend I came as soon as he opened and requested to pick them up 3 hours later. Upon my arrival the owner had them boxed up and ready to go. My family was overjoyed with how fresh and succulent they were. Today was no different when I visited to get my #1 males. “It’s a seafood place and a convenience store so it’s a chill atmosphere. The guy working the register/tables is super nice. I got the snow crab boil and my friend got the shrimp boil with ramen. Both were great. The ramen was nice and salty because it soaked up the flavor from the rest of the boil. The snow crab was great and they do give you a metal cracker to use. I’ll definitely come again. For parking, there’s street parking and a parking lot that’s very close.“

“I live Yoshi Sushi! They have always given me great service and very tasty food. I worked with sushi restaurants for about 10 years and I can say that the quality is great for the price. I always get the Tropical roll, it’s like dessert. The sushi rice is delicious, cooked just right. Nothing worse than sushi with overcooked rice. The foods that come from the kitchen are also great. Shrimp and veggie tempura, hibachi, and yaki soba are among my favorites.“

We dined here on Valentine’s Day and were seated immediately. The restaurant is spacious so I don’t think I’ve ever waited long. Our server Darrell was phenomenal.The food as usual did not disappoint. I love love the Cajun fried rice and catfish sliders (no tartar, add lettuce, remoulade sauce on the side) and had been looking forward to those for a week. We tried the battered buffalo wings for the first time and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly; would definitely order again. We also did a custom boil with 1/2 lb of each: crab legs, shrimp, sausage with the boil bay sauce and was the perfect amount for us. 10/10 experience per usual!“

The pork fried rice has the tasty chopped pork I expect to get instead of the little stringy brown pieces that many Chinese restaurants are using now. However, it lacked flavor. The beef with vegetables has very tender pieces of meat, and the vegetables taste very fresh. It’s very good, but needs a bit more brown sauce. The boneless barbecued pork has wonderful flavor but too many pieces with gristle, so I don’t recommend it. Overall, I’ve had two good experiences with Tings’s so far, and I will be ordering from them again.“
