“Food was average at best. Out of everything including a cook. Actually closed the kitchen for about 30 minutes because cook was at end of shift and no one there to replace him. They are listed as a Priority Pass discounted restaurant and when asked, they looked at me like I was crazy. No clue.“

Being a long time food writer who has been on assignment in many kitchens, its no surprise to me that Leah has carved out a reputation for herself in Richmond recently. She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.“

“Never had such an waffle, we had just passed by and ordered a few waffles. Never thought I’d be served with calm music and good vibes, and two amazingly soft and delicious waffles. The workers are so nice and the environment is very welcoming. Tip: order waffles with chocolate chip/other on the SIDE!!“

-They do have a bar on both levels.
-Parking can be tricky. Suggest arriving early to secure a good parking spot around the area.

“It’s a great local place. Lots of dinner specials. They are definitely a step up from bar food. They also have some very simple meals like two hot dogs. In good weather there’s an outside dining area. There’s also a back room for private dining of us small group.“

“At first we were surprised. We thought it would be more spacious. But we passed the door as the weather was too cold to enjoy the outside seating area. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and professional. We dad the burger and both my wife and I were so happy of our choice. It is really delicious. The meat is tender and we'll cooked, the vegetable is fresh and the fries hand cut. A real treat.“
