“Had to make a stop downtown for business and grabbed an early dinner right before Christmas. It was our first time trying this spot. It was so wonderful, the food, the server, atmosphere and the creative creation when I asked for one of their signature cocktails to be hot vs iced. Happy new year and here’s to wonderful food and company!“
“This whole review could be dedicated to the atmosphere, but that would do a disservice to the rest of the experience. Top level service, comfortable but classy vibe, and wonderful food. Each dish was nuanced, layered with flavor and texture. The crab cakes were indeed all crab, and the potato leek soup was absolute velvet, wonderful and creamy. The Devil's in the Details for dessert ❤️❤️❤️“
“I came here for a work event and we were directed to the event space. I got the short rib and a couple others got the salmon. Both were wonderful.Drinks were a little slow but heavily poured and made for a lively evening. The night was made by the service given by Rylee. She took the time to connect with everybody and made us all feel welcome while giving wonderful service. Her patience and expertise made the night a wonderful experience!“
“My cousin had her bridal shower at Henley on 4/11. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious. William snd his staff were phenomenal! This is my new spot to come and relax enjoy the great food and drink. Thank you again for allowing us to have her bridal shower there.“
“The atmosphere upon arrival was awesome. The rest of the stay, I cannot say the same. The game overall was great for first timers. Although our waiter was less than satisfactory. He asked us if we had been there before and we stated no. He then proceeded to ask for our orders on drinks and didn't even take time to explain how things worked. He came to our table about 4 times total and one of those times was to tell us that our time was up. He then proceeded to tell us that it was our fault and something would've came up on our screen. Which was not the case. Would recommend this place again, although I hope the next time is a much better experience. Btw ...make sure you're not in the booth 329...that's two high tops and not a lounge. Also, explore your options with wait staff, Jason was sweet but he was too distracted and was not a great listener.“
“We came here for happy hour and I could taste that they used a good tequila in the margarita it was so good. I was going to get the firecracker shrimp but they had some Reuben sandwiches left from Saint Patties Day so we both had them and we weren’t disappointed! It came on marbled bread and the corned beef was sweet and tender with no gristle. Shout out to Brendan and DeAndre for excellent service! It was my BFF’s birthday dinner and they sent over a yummy chocolate cake for her. Thank you. Also, shout out to the chef as she really knows how to cook corned beef — it really was delectable.Edited to add that the beet tower with goat cheese was awesome!“
“Attended the Wade Cellars wine tasting hosted here by Chef Mike Lindsey and it was phenomenal. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but very well put together, inviting, and has charm.I haven't tried menu items from Jubilee yet, but after this experience, we will definitely be back!“
“First time here while in town visiting a friend for weekend and it’s safe to say, I’ll definitely come back!! The Caprese was absolutely delicious with the Buffalo mozzarella as the star and the Braised Beef tacos with the Roasted Beets were divine!“
“Dinner at Alewife was the highlight of our five-day visit to Richmond. First off, it was a relief to get out of downtown Richmond with its huge empty parking lots, boarded up storefronts and deserted streets. The historic Church Hill section, with its 19th century row and other houses and interesting looking restaurants and shops, was such a pleasant change. Parking near Alewife was a bit of a challenge, but we quickly found a spot just a block away. The restaurant itself has a fascinating vibe, part friendly neighborhood spot and part disarmingly upmarket dining room. You just knew the food would be interesting, and it was. We started with a gin and tonic and a non-alcoholic beer. The menu is fairly short and apparently changes nightly, or at least frequently.I would never in this world think that I would enjoy an appetizer of raw oysters, bright green pickle juice, creme fraiche and fresh dill. But it was an amazing flavor combination. My partner's appetizer was equally interesting -- lox on thick, toasted rustic bread. As mains, we had the arctic char, with grilled carrots, and the skate, both perfectly prepared and delicious. Service throughout the meal was just right -- friendly, attentive but not overly so. Our charge for two, including tip, was around $150, well worth the price. Thank you for a great meal experience!“
“10/10 experience. I had the biscuit and gravy, sage sausage, caramelized onion potato hash and nitro coffee. Everything was priced great and Selim was the most welcoming bartender. The cook in the back was killing it. Presentation on point. We were from out of town and I will definitely stop here again. Thank you so much for the experience.“
“Mimosas were delicious. Waiter was a doll. Long wait on a Sunday afternoon for brunch - expected of course, they don’t take resys. Overall great spot. I ordered the short rib with mashed potatoes and Brussels. So so good. My friend got the crab dip/craft beer/biscuits and gravy with a side of deviled eggs. She loved it.“
“We arrived on a busy Saturday morning. We were greeted and asked to be placed on a wait to actually order food for ten minutes and we were told to grab a seat. During that time a e were able to look at the menu and decide what we wanted. We went with a classic - chicken strips, egg and country gravy. And OH MY! It was sooo good. Choose to get the full waffle and you will not be disappointed!“
“Food is always great. Service was a bit slow this time but hasn't always been in the past. Called in advance to ask if desserts were made in a Peanut free area and they are not. Was then charged a $15 cake fee for bringing in outside dessert. Will come back again but not for celebrations as they were unwilling to waive the fee due to allergies.“
“I took some friends out for their engagement celebration to The Roosevelt and couldn't have made a better choice. The waitress was great. The food was excellent! My girlfriend said it was some of the best scallops she's ever had. Shout out to Will who graciously treated the table to a nice wine for the happy couple!“
“This place checked almost all my boxes for brunch spots;a variety of Benny's, specialty cocktails especially ones with flowers, moonshine, and sparkling, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy; stuffed French toast, and avocado toast. Ambiance was great; the building is an old school movie theatre. Both the food and service we're amazing; Jessica was handling her business!“
“Makeia was amazing! We had a large party and she remained calm and level throughout all the stuff going on!!! She had a pleasant disposition and was very attentive to our needs! She really made me look forward to visiting Trios again! I hope that next time I get her as the person to service me and my guest!!!! Please give this young lady a bonus, raise or something!! She deserves it!“
“We had brunch there for the first time last weekend. The food was delicious! My first time eating zucchini fries and I loved them. The brussell sprouts were amazing! My mom enjoyed the dill pasta salad and smashed breakfast sandwich. I enjoyed an omelette. We even squeezed in strawberry Bundt cake. Service was good and fast. I definitely recommend it!“
“I have been going to Joe's in since 2000, when I first moved to Grove Ave. I had my first legal drink there when I turned 21. And I've had many first dates there. It is, without a doubt, the vision of a corner bar. When they show places like home town bars in movies or shows, it always makes me think of Joe's. If you are looking for food or a drink or just a great place to get coffee and read the paper. You should go to Joe's. Warning : the after church crowd is not a nice group of people to be around. But maybe that is just my experience.“
“Our dinner was perfect & the service was impeccable! Most of us got the specials, which were creative and well executed, but our daughter got the hanger steak and said it was the best she has ever had. We had a hard time deciding which dessert so we each got something and shared. The sticky pudding was my favorite of all! The ambiance was beautiful & comfortable. We highly recommend Shagbark!“
“My date and I decided on the newest ML Steak location in the Chesterfield Town Center on a rainy, romantic Wednesday evening. These guys absolutely hit it out of the park. We sat at the bar where we were promptly served by our bartender Tom. We could not have been given better service: Tom explained the menu with both detail and passion to the point we were nearly hypnotized at the end. It’s the kind of professional level service that you rarely see anymore but we experienced it here. Tom would even transfer Felicia’s beer into a frosty pint glass if it were sitting too long. These little details truly make the difference. I ordered the Beast Burger and I may have had a better burger in my life but nothing comes to mind right now because this thing was a juicy culinary masterpiece of bison and boar meat. Felicia gave me some of her fried smoke half chicken and it was equally amazing. Chicken smoked in house and given a special blend of spices. We couldn’t have been happier with the total dining experience here at ML Steak, including the ambiance. It’s the type of restaurant experience that has become rare today but needs to be experienced and celebrated. Bravo! We will be back!“
“I ate here with a good friend of mine and the atmosphere was very nice, we got a wonderful booth next to the window and they work on a reservation system so heads up on that! The food overall was pretty good, my friend is a big fan of their broccoli but for me nothing stood out to me. Its a very Richmond hipster restaurant with taking elements from different cultures but with their own twist. The dessert however was great and the staff is wonderful so it makes me sad to see disrespectful costumers.“
“drinks were great, atmosphere and service was great. however, I ordered the crab cakes and they were the worst. so salty, I really thought that canned tuna, not crabmeat was the main ingredient. I was there for a friend's birthday and didn't want to ruin the vibe by complaining to our server but y'all really need to take them off the menu.“
“Looking for a place for breakfast on a visit to Richmond, being a Monday many places were closed. Google found this place and the reviews were good. The short of it this is a must stop when we visit family in Richmond. The service is good, the food is tasty, I really like the menu, and good coffee.“
“This was my first time going here. The food and service was great. The environment was nice waterfront dining. There are boat docks and piers and a river side burm that people were able to fish from. The parking was easy and plentiful however I have heard in the peak season during the nice weather it gets very crowded so parking may be more of a challenge and possibly a wait to get in. They do have a waiting area with firepits and drink service which is a nice feature. I have also heard they have live music during the peak season. I checked the website and they have a good line up of live music coming this spring and summer. I am looking forward to going back during peak season to enjoy the waterside atmosphere with live music. I think this may be my new favorite go to place for the spring and summer. The food was great, they have good appetizers and personal pizza choices also like a Greek and Italian style and they had good beer choices and drink options. IPA’s like Stones and Falcon Smash and a Blackberry cider. There were lots of other food choices on the menu also. I recommend you try this place for the atmosphere, the drinks and the food.“
“I'm honestly surprised I haven't reviewed this place before. In my humble opinion, this is the best French restaurant in the whole city. The staff are impeccably kind and attentive, the food selection is great, and the drinks are to die for. The staff treats you like family, and it really makes for an inviting time. The space is also very warm and comforting, which I truly appreciate.Definitely a place you should go for a nice date with someone, or to just have a good dinner and a warm and welcoming space.“
“Great experience. Entertainment is excellent. The food is very good. Drinks are very good. It did take a long time for food to arrive. One suggestion is that the entertainers come all the way down the aisle before making a change in their outfits. If you are sitting against the wall, you can't see what is happening up by the door.“
“Always fresh and delicious. Their avacados are always ripe and green. Flavors are always a hit. My go to spot and I dont think there is anything remotely comprable that I have ever come across. This is what one hopes sweetgreen could be like but is nowhere close in quality. Do yourself a favor and try Goatacado.“
“First of all this is a beautiful hotel and restaurant. Atmosphere, atmosphere! I shared my salad with my daughter while we waited for the main course. The filet was melt in your mouth tender and was so delicious! I ordered cooked medium and it was spot on.“
“Tiny, hip place down from church hill. Booths are a little tight, but that's my only criticism. The food was spot on. Ingredients were fresh and recipes were not over complicated. Each ingredient shined. Look forward to next time and trying more things.“
“I sadly didn’t take any pictures, but you’ll be able to see those on other reviews. Sorry about that.I went here on a Wednesday at around 7 with my mother. She’s got a rollator which is one of those fancy walkers with wheels.I got an andouille sandwich with their spicy potatoes salad. The sandwich was much more than food than I expected. I was quite full afterword. It was two sausages cheese melted on a toasted bun with onions. Excellent meal that I was hesitant to try. The potato salad was great. Better than my mom’s but not quite as good as Garnett’s.My mom got a hamburger with only onions it’s her typical fare with the red skin potatoes. I tried her potatoes and they were good. Her hamburger was pretty boring but she liked it. I think they could have made the beef patties bigger for the price but we had a good meal.Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The meals came out in a reasonable time. The place is very cute and unique. It’s a smaller establishment with a covered patio. The place is handicap accessible but would be difficult with a wheel chair. My mom did fine with her rollator. No steps or anything to get over. The bathrooms are tiny but I think that’s due to the age of the establishment. If I’m in the area would definitely return. Great food, staff, and atmosphere.“
“10/10 Everytime. Nugs, fries and fried rice are the go to with mambo sauce. Cary out style restaurant. The staff taking orders are always friendly and professional even when the phone is ringing off the hook. Online ordering is also available. Parking next to the building is also available.“
“I ate here last week. Not as good as I remembered, but still pretty good. Shrimp and grits were, good, not the best, but not bad 3.7 out of 5. Happy hour drinks were just okay too, the Paloma. I don't think I'll return anytime soon.“
“Loved it. Everything that a great Richmond bar can offer from a cozy relaxed tavern feel to an excellent martini and really good fish and chips. The place was packed but the bartender did a great job of handling everything in a timely manner.“
“Would give them 100 ⭐️'s! This is an absolute hidden gem in the city of Richmond. We stopped in before heading to a show at Altria. Not big, ting place, but we squeezed in at the bar and made bar buddies with the couple sitting next to us since we were bumping elbows. I ordered the Oyster Mushroom meal, and it was one of the most amazing dishes I've ever eaten. Didn't even know you could make it into a full meal. My buddy got fresh made sausage, which he gave me a bite of, and it was incredible as well. If you want some top of line Italian food and not the normal stuff, you need to try Dinamo!“
“In town for VCU expo and walked 2 blocks to the Village Cafe for lunch. The place was busy but there were a few tables available. Good quick service and the food was above average. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the extra charge for using a credit card.“
“Ursula was the best waitress I've had in the city! She knew the menu backwards and forwards, every recommendation she made was right on the money, and she made me feel extra comfortable. This was a great way to spend my Fiancée birthday!“
“Packed on a Wednesday night, but at 6:30pm, we were able to get a decent table for 5. Portions are huge food was hot. Coffee with dessert was cold, and it got sent back. The housemate chips are thicker than most but deliciously seasoned and very crispy. Just the way I like them. The calamari was cooked to perfection and not rubbery. I liked the fried peppers that accompanied the calamari. Had to get extra marinara because the bowl was full to overflowing. When I say the portions are huge... I ordered the chicky chicky parm parm and I still have more to eat. I've been having sides of spaghetti for the last 2 days. Go and try it out. You won't be disappointed. The drinks were on point.“
“First off.....this place is tiny so no parties over 4.....but there's also a nearby park if your group wants to order and eat there. I've done this on a nice day before. The variety of options here is outstanding. I've tried several sandwiches here and have never left unhappy. Most recently I had the Manny, the Teacher, the Scribe and chicken Salad. I would get them all again but the menu is so vast I'm always compelled to try something new. Most recently Kiki took care of us and was great suggesting something new. Keeping this one in the rotation!“
“First Watch is one of our favorite places to grab a late, leisurely bite on the weekends or a sneaky breakfast after the bus run. Whether they are packed or we're the only guests, the staff is amazing and the food is always great! I don't think I've had the same thing twice yet because it all sounds so good and I haven't been disappointed yet! Thank you for the consistent hospitality!“
“We came on a Saturday night for dinner. It was a bit unclear if you were to seat yourself or not, and the service was a bit slow due to how busy the bar was since a live band was starting soon. However, our experience overall was excellent. The biscuit is probably the best biscuit I've had at a restaurant, ever. Absolutely recommend. We tried three flavors of wings and all thought the gochujang was the most outstanding. The pinto beans, pickles, slaw, and chicken quesadilla were all flavorful and solid. We loved everything we tried.“
“We are lucky to have such good food in our neighborhood. We have had everything on the menu and all of it is incredible. Portions are huge, price isn't crazy, and the vibe is Richmond's top tier. The Hawaiian bowl or nachos are amazing, the poke bowl, the lamb tacos, the calamari, the burger, the crab spaghetti, all of it is so good.If you drink, don't miss out on the frozen. Do you like the idea of icy, slushy consistency, but aren't interested in something reminiscent of a slurpee your friends filled with everclear in high school? The seasonal frozens are thoughtfully crafted slushy drinks with layers of flavors that dont rely on sugar to create taste. You will not be disappointed.“
“we had a great time. the food , especially the appetizers was great. Bruce our host was really great and helped out with whatever we needed. we had a toddler and no issues with the bumpers or anything. No complaints at all. Great experience.“
“I got the country fried steak, collards, and spoonbread. I was really excited to see spoonbread on a menu and it definitely met my expectations. The meal basically tasted like my mom made it, and the price was crazy good-- like $16 for so much food I couldn't finish it. Also had a martini with garlic olives which were so delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here.“
“I’d share a photo of the Italian beef I got, but I ate it too fast. Slow, SLOOOW cooked beef with giardiniera piled on a hearty sesame bread. I’m going to be thinking about that one for a while. It might cost more than you think a sandwich should cost (if you’re older like me), but the moment you start to eat it, you’ll know you got a deal. Plus it comes with chips. Better than fair.“
“We had a lovely Easter brunch outside on the front patio. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Easy to check in to our reservation and they were able to accommodate our request to sit outside. Kids menu worked well for our 2 children (4&6) and my husband and I loved the grouper sandwich. Great experience and lovely setting.“
“Laura Lee's has become our absolute favorite spot in the neighborhood, and it's our top choice for both date nights and entertaining out-of-town guests. The restaurant has consistently exceeded our expectations, making it a go-to option for creating memorable experiences. One standout feature that sets Laura Lee's apart is their exceptional accommodation for dietary restrictions. As someone with gluten sensitivity, I appreciate the effort they put into ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to assist in tailoring dishes to meet specific dietary needs or address food allergies.Hands down, they boast the best cocktails on the Southside. The mixologists here are true artists, crafting unique and flavorful concoctions that never fail to impress. Each sip is a delightful journey through a symphony of tastes, and the presentation is equally as impressive. Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for a refreshing drink, Laura Lee's has something for everyone.Service at Laura Lee's is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a positive dining experience. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave, you feel well taken care of.“
“I know that Malito’s has been a staple in the west end for a very long time but this was the first time we ever went there. It was fabulous. I had the 2 chili dog meal and they reminded me of being a kid again. My son had the club sandwich which was easily 2 meals worth of food. Beer price was a bit high but otherwise it was a great place to go and we will be back.“
“Native Plate is SO good. Everything was literally so amazing - the waitstaff were incredibly kind and helpful navigating our food allergies, the bar tender made me a delicious mocktail mojito, and our food was so so fresh. They are in fact a scratch kitchen, and everything tasted like it was grown out back and picked just for our meals! We can't wait to bring family and friends here! My one teensy complaint is that it gets a little smoky when they cook, as there doesn't seem to be much ventilation, but that would not stop me from coming back. The decor is cute and the ambiance is also so peaceful :)“
“Great local, neighborhood café with cozy atmosphere, warm service, and even cozier food. Try a meat, egg, and cheese bagel—my favorite is chorizo; it comes as a layer of spicy sausage crumble. The coffee & espresso are great, and the café is always clean. Excellent place to bring family, friends, and/or coworkers.“
“Normally I don't write reviews for restaurants, but this place just went above and beyond my expectations. It was my first time visiting your establishment and my first impression was the waitress Tabbi Englehart greeting me at the table, she had a smile and was very helpful and offered suggestions we should try. Service and timing were absolute perfect. Food was amazing as well. Pretty much they treat you like kings and queens. 100% would return. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could.“
