“overall a very pleasant experience! I went on a Friday evening around 7pm, and both inside and outside seating was nearly packed! I managed to grab a couple barstools along the window while I waited for my company to arrive.

now, I dont know hoe long it had been between the last person at my seats leaving and me coming in; it very well may have been 2 minutes or 20. but when I entered, no one was seated there. however, the table was veryyyy sticky, I put my bare arm down and almost gagged lol.

not the biggest deal tho, as i did see someone come through and wipe down any unoccupied tables and chairs with a rag (which I hope had cleaner on it because shawty did not have a spray bottle of any kind), so im sure the cleaning is a lot more regular when theyre less busy.

im holding space for grace bc I know how the food industry gets. but it was still unpleasant and I did not feel like I could fully relax because I kept getting triggered everytime my arm touched the table lmao.

The people working this afternoon were so nice and ready to help us (I had been studying the menu online though, so we knew exactly what we wanted! If you’re not sure though, they are more than willing to help), and the food was delicious and substantially portioned. The salsa bar to dress things up is amazing, but everything was incredible even without it. I got all the vegetarian stuff and I can’t wait to try more. My husband got the chicken mole on the bone and a pork guiso and now he’s fantasizing about catering a party from here because it is so homey and tastes so comforting. We went with the platillo medio option to try 2 guisos each, and with that we had leftovers, which is great for breakfast or lunch tomorrow. I will say the spicy stuff wasn’t very spicy if you like some heat, but it’s all seasoned really nicely. Corn tortillas were great, and they seemed super conscientious about that for gf guests. “It's been a few years since I visited El Caporal in person. We were hungry after going downtown for a doctor's appointment so we decided to have dinner out.

This is such a great little restaurant. Extremely fast service, delicious, fresh food. Mom ordered a taco salad, I got #4 and requested the verde sauce which is amazing. The folks across from us ordered a great looking dessert before leaving, and we were jealous of the margarita ordered by the gentleman who took the table. Sadly we don't drink these days but lots of great looking cocktails were going by.

Chips were fresh and warm, salsa and white sauce were fresh.

$38 for the two of us with tip, two entrees and a diet Pepsi.

“We catered a welcome dinner for our wedding for 90 guests through Jalapenos in Carytown. The event was at a local brewery. We ordered a wide variety of items including tortillas, fajitas, steak, chicken, rice, quesadillas, dip, and other items. All the food was extremely fresh and tasty, with great portions! It came right on time, and was set up perfectly! We received so many compliments on all the food, and people kept going back for seconds. Carlos and his team were such a pleasure to work with, and cared so much about the success of our event. We could not recommend them enough.“

“I went to La Playa for the first time about one month ago and have since been 3 more times. Nothing short of amazing every time. The food is incredibly flavorful, the drinks are perfectly crafted and very aesthetic, and the service is friendly. They have put a lot of thought into the details as well which is something that I appreciate, the bar stools and drinking glasses are very cute for example. The first time I visited, my friend and I split the steak fajitas and pollo santa fe (minus the mushrooms that come in it). Both were good but the pollo santa fe was absolutely both of our favorites and what I have ordered every time since. I have gone with a couple of separate groups of friends (including a bachelorette group), my younger brother, and everyone who I’ve introduced to La Playa has absolutely loved and raved about it, eating every bite on their plate. Drinks recs: Any flavor soft serve marg (the swirl option is always good too) spicy jalapeño marg, any of their mojitos. 10/10 Love Playa“

“We just moved to the area and were looking for a good Mexican spot, and we’re so happy we found Kahlo’s! The food was absolutely delicious, and the tacos were some of the best we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was beautiful, warm, and welcoming, and everyone made us feel right at home.

“We ate at the Mechanicsville location on our way home from out of state. I always order a chimichanga every time I have Mexican, which is often. I ordered one today with ground beef. When it was brought out to me it looked like a taquito ( a 1/3 of the size). A manager came over and was not happy when I told him that. He said that was their normal size chimi’s. To top it all off when I took my first bite it was lovely.“
