“Food was absolutely amazing, we got the classic bean and cheese pupusas and some revueltas. They were amazing, I’ve been in Richmond for a while now and I’ve had a hard time finding true authentic pupusas and one day I drove on main street and saw El Pope. I decided to try them out and I will definitely be coming back for more in the future.“

“El Rey is like a Latino bodega, The right is a restaurant in the left is a market. I got those pupusa‘s and they taste like a grandma made them and I also tried to steak and chicken tacos, Which everything was very delicious. I knew walking in when I saw all the locals that this place was going to be good. The people that work in the back, don’t really speak English Which also is a good sign, overall, if you want good authentic El Salvador food, this is your place.“

“Food was great I order mondongo soup and a torta de asada, I call ahead to order my food and it was ready when I arrived. Nice environment, just the music was a little too loud but other than that my experience was great. I will be coming back.“

“Stopped in just to grab some Tacos after leaving the junkyard down the street,and what was supposed to be a quick grab and go became a full dine in experience. I got a steak dinner instead of the tacos food was delicious, cooked well and made with care.Food presentation was also nice.
Been in the culinary field for a long time this place gets a solid 4 from me. Will be coming back soon“

“Food here is reasonably priced. You will find mostly Central American food. There is also a supermarket attached to it. The server is very kind and sweet. I recommend las Gorditas and the Filete de Pollo. If you like pineapple, the Agua de Piña is pretty good.“

“The pupusas were delicious! We ordered three different kinds: queso, frijoles, and revuelta. They were all well seasoned and the cabbage slaw (curtido) was just right. We were so full for a very reasonable price. Pupuseria Mercedes is a little gem and well worth the visit.“
