“I am struggling to write this review because everything about this experience was so stupid-good that I am at a loss for words.

The service? Stupendous. The food? I literally cried a little bit when it was gone. The vibe? Impeccable. Come as you are, as long as “you are” means you want to enjoy glorious seafood.

Here’s what I will do on my next visit:
1. Book an early reservation, say 4pm. Lay waste to the happy hour menu. I’m talking $1 oysters, $30 bottles of vino verde. Grab a ceviche that will make you doubt every ceviche you have ever had to date. Eat some fat shrimp. Get a tin of tuna belly with cocktails - and ask for suggestions; there are some thoughtful and magical pairings to enjoy.
2. Pay up and go for a walk.
3. Come back for your cleverly-arranged 7:00pm reservation. Do EVERYTHING. Order it AGAIN. Maybe skip the conserva and get dessert instead; the banana ice cream sundae was calling my name. Doesn’t matter, just make sure you do this experience twice in one night.
4. Do you have the intestinal fortitude to repeat steps 2 and 3? I do not, but I would respect the heck out of anyone who can. You do you.“

“I’ve had lunch there several times and the food was excellent every single time. Fresh, carefully prepared and presented in an unassuming and light atmosphere. It’s not until you experience fresh fish prepared perfectly (seasoning that compliments instead of masking flavors, cooked to temperature and doneness perfection, never soggy or dry, not masked by over frying, and just melt in your mouth delicious) do you understand just how really wonderful and valuable this spot is for Richmond. You will not regret trying this place. And you will definitely go back again and again. Desserts are also made on site and are worth saving room to enjoy. “This was my very first visit at 88 Street Food RVA. They just open for lunch and I went in after a group of others. The owner welcome them like family. And not just to them, he extended it to me. The restaurant had a warm atmosphere. Plenty selection of food. I ordered the #1 bahn mi and coffee to go. The food was great and I'll definitely visit again.“

“On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was a anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.“

“Our party of six enjoyed a lovely mid-afternoon lunch on the patio. Service was prompt, very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed several excellent appetizers including ahi tuna tacos, shaved octopus and the best mussels on the planet! Entree’s we enjoyed were Tuna Poke Bowl, Fried Grouper Sandwich with pickled pineapple just to name a couple. All of us enjoyed our visit and look forward to going again!“

“It's been a few years since I visited El Caporal in person. We were hungry after going downtown for a doctor's appointment so we decided to have dinner out.

This is such a great little restaurant. Extremely fast service, delicious, fresh food. Mom ordered a taco salad, I got #4 and requested the verde sauce which is amazing. The folks across from us ordered a great looking dessert before leaving, and we were jealous of the margarita ordered by the gentleman who took the table. Sadly we don't drink these days but lots of great looking cocktails were going by.

Chips were fresh and warm, salsa and white sauce were fresh.

$38 for the two of us with tip, two entrees and a diet Pepsi.

It was a littttttle on the salty side but overall just so flavorful and delicious - can’t recommend enough. Best chicken I’ve had in a long time. There was a couple walking up the stairs in front of us as we went in, and when we got to the door, a waitress said “I need that cup” and yanked it out of the woman’s hand as she walked off. She was the same waitress that sat us, but not who took our order. The waitress who took our order was extremely rude almost the entire time. A couple of times she brought food out and put it on our table AS she’s walking by. I stopped her once, to ask if we could have our bread warmed as it was cold. She barely stopped as she said “no.” And continued walking. The waitresses were rude and made me feel so uncomfortable with their terrible attitudes. Atmosphere is a little cramped but it was fine. The food was AMAZING though. It was really hot, and the pasta portions were GENEROUS.“

“Excellent I’m a known chef visiting VCU in Richmond, Virginia and saw there were great Chinese places. Since 1981 I’ve loved however not found many legit shredded pork in garlic sauce dishes. They nailed it, this classic Sichuan dish . When she placed on the table I had flash backs to Houston Texas the last time I actually ordered the dish as every place did it no justice. If you’ve never tried its spicy, salty, little acidic. Steamed rice has to be and was perfect. I started with a great hot and sour soup and then the green onion pancake. The pancake golden brown, crispy, cooked perfect. The soup a great blend had me sweating. Only negative is I’m from Georgia.“
