“The staff here are incredibly kind and welcoming, which really made the experience pleasant. The food menu looks amazing and everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. The salteñas were great and definitely something I would order again.

The only thing that wasn’t for me were the alfajor cookies. They were very dense and had a bit too much caramel for my taste. Others may love them if you’re a big dulce de leche fan (which I am), but they were just a little heavy for me.

Overall though, the friendly staff and great salteñas made it worth the visit.“

“This was close to work and I have been wanting to try this place. I had the carne asada platter. Nice portion size. Steak, plantains, rice with a nice egg on top. I substituted fries for yuca. I also ordered the papa rellena. Horchata was delicious. The staff were friendly and the service was great. The atmosphere was very casual.“

“This is one of my favorite bakery’s for sweet bread! I can’t stress enough at the fact that if you love Mexican conchas not every place makes them the same! I’ve trained different bakeries and this is my Number one for conchas! The softness and right amount of sugar and it doesn’t have the yeast, baking powder taste to it like in other places. So if you are looking for conchas they make them fresh every day, they are done by 1pm BUT they are so popular so they are gone by 6pm! So check your time! I’ve been coming here for a month now and every time I come they aren’t finished being made yet or they are gone already haha. Let me tell you the waiting game is sooooo worth my drive for it! “I’ve been coming to this location for many years, going all the way back to when this place was called El Rancho. Even back then, it was my go-to spot for Peruvian chicken. The skin was always perfectly cooked, the chicken was marinated to perfection, and the level of service was consistently excellent.

Over the years, the restaurant evolved into Hondu Pollo, introducing Honduran flavors alongside their classic Peruvian dishes. In my opinion, this change only made the place better. The menu now offers a great mix of Honduran and Peruvian options, and everything I’ve tried has been flavorful and satisfying.

One thing I truly appreciate is how welcoming the environment is. I don’t speak Spanish, and at times I feel like I might be the only non-Spanish speaker in the room lol but that has never been an issue. The staff has always been friendly, patient, and helpful, and I’ve consistently felt welcomed every time I visit.

They’ve also made some updates to the interior over the years. There’s now a small bar area where the coolers used to be, and interestingly enough, they even have slot machines. At first, you might think that would make the place less family-friendly, but that hasn’t been my experience at all. I still see families with children there all the time, and the environment remains comfortable and community-oriented.

If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be menu pricing accuracy. On my most recent visit, I ordered the pollo saltado, which was listed on the screen as $14.99, but the receipt showed $16.99, bringing the total to just under $19 with tax. The price is still reasonable for the portion and quality, but updating the menu boards for accuracy would improve transparency and prevent confusion.

That said, this place absolutely earns five stars from me. I’ve had Peruvian chicken from many places over the years, and Hondu Pollo remains one of the best I’ve ever had. The food is consistently delicious, the portions are generous, the service is reliable, and the welcoming atmosphere keeps me coming back year after year.

“This place looked good so we wanted to give it a try. We got the pollo saltado (chicken with red onion and fries in a tasty sauce with rice) and pesto lomo (beef with spaghetti in a basil pesto). Both were served with garlic bread, and both were delicious. I asked for the chicken to be without tomatoes. Unfortunately it was served with tomatoes, but Geraldine apologized and quickly replaced it with no tomatoes. We also tried the raspberry cola inglesa (yum) and flancocho - a chocolate / vanilla-ish (?) cake that was delicious. The prices seemed a bit high, but the food and menu seemed very authentic. 100% Peruvian according to them... Our bill said "Hot and cold" so maybe it's their partner?“

“As soon as we walked in, the bartenders waved us to the bar like we were old friends and were so friendly. We came at 10pm on a Friday night and didn’t know they have one side of the restaurant as a club so be warned it gets very loud because of the music. We didn’t care but I know some people may find the info useful. We got the steak fajitas and ceviche and the steak was some of the best I’ve ever had. The ceviche was really good but super spicy and a lot of lemon. We had a good laugh at the guys singing karaoke and everyone included us in the shenanigans! If you want a fun night out, try this place. If you want a quiet peaceful dinner, maybe try to dine at an earlier hour.“

“We went with friends last night for dinner. We were on the patio. We ordered a guacamole. It did not look fresh. Long story short we did not care for it. We asked our waitress if she could swap it out for a large cheese dip. The manager came out arguing with me and kept asking me why I didn’t like the guacamole. He wouldn’t stop asking. “King Pollo is a go-to lunch spot during the work week for the fast service and delicious food. Everything I’ve tried has been fresh and well seasoned. You have to try the chicken of course but my favorite to get here are the pupusas! They are so good and the best in the area, but since they are made to order (as they should be) you will have to wait a bit but it’s 100% worth it.“

The atmosphere is very good, the food tastes very good and they serve a lot. The parking is quite large and free, and they also have very varied menus for children. “They're really missing out by not implementing Uber Eats or Doordash deliveries into their system. I have a special place in my heart for their Carne Asada. It's the best Carne Asada you can get in the Sterling area.
You'll have the smoothest experience ordering in Spanish, but I'm sure English would work too. I'd really avoid eating inside since you'll most likely feel cramped with their limited seating. This general area isn't the most appealing, but the food will make the trip well worth it.“
