“Red House Sweets and Catalyst Coffee Bar are by far the ultimate combo - if you’re looking for some of the BEST pastries you have ever tasted as well as the best coffee anywhere in this whole area of Vermont, look no further!! Both places share the same space with separate counters, and you’re going to want to get things from both. Red House Sweets has an amazing selection of pastries and desserts, and many gluten-free options as well! I absolutely love the orange cardamom croissant - I don’t know what they do to make it, but it’s definitely in the top 5 best single pastries I have ever had in my whole life. I also love their kouign-amann as well!! These are both must-trys if you’re looking for something sweet. Honestly though, everything looks incredible. All the croissants, the focaccia, cakes, tarts, and so on would be so worth trying. I guess I gotta keep coming back to try it all!! Also, I want to give a special nod to the person working behind the counter. She was so upbeat and friendly and made the vibe of the place so much better. This place really is something special and I highly recommend visiting next time you’re in St. Albans!!!“

“I try to stop at least twice a week. Pricing is on par, The deli is the main reason to check it out. Best sandwichs in Franklin county, if not Vermont. The portions are very large, the staff is super friendly. Amazing local products. And always remember to stop at the bakery for the best sweets around. Thank you to the awsome staff who enhance my morning.“

Comfort Cookies Bakery •
70 Bank St, St Albans City

“I love cookies but get tired of baking them myself. I was surfing the web looking at different cookie companies when I came across Comfort Cookies. I had already tried the usual companies and wasn't satisfied. I ordered from Comfort Cookies and was very pleasantly surprised. Their cookies are delicious and they are big. I can't recommend them highly enough. They are soft, delicious and homemade. Anyone who loves cookies will really love these.“

“GREAT coffee. Great bagel! I could have had a little more ‘toast’ in the ‘toasted’ but the cream cheese was cold (as it should be) and appropriately flavored (bacon, scallion, horseradish) which was delicious. Loved that the everything bagel seasoning was on BOTH SIDES of the bagel (as it should be!) but would have liked to have a little more salt in the seasoning. But that’s a preference thing. Great texture, good size- I left wanting more, which means I will crave this. And that’s a good thing!“

Brot Bakehouse School and Kitchen - Brotbakery Bakery •
38 Meade Rd, Fairfax

“My sourdough bread baking journey was enhanced when I purchased Sarah Owens first book, "Sourdough". Since getting her book (and subsequent ones) I decided that I wanted to take a workshop at some point. When I found out she was going to be in VT (where my husband has relatives), we decided it was going to be our summer adventure. Brot Bakehouse is located in the picturesque hills of northern VT. The gardens were in full glory and created a relaxing and beautiful setting. The atmosphere of the school is welcoming with Heike and her husband greeting us as we arrived with yummy snacks, drinks, and coffees. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything a bread-baker could ever want. We had a large group and worked in pairs (10 in total). The first day of Sarah's Wholegrain Baking workshop was busy from morning until late afternoon...we accomplished a lot of bread making on that first day! Lunch was provided and welcomed after all our hard work. The next day was more leisurely as we baked off most of our creations from the day before. Again snacks, lunch, and discussions were in abundance. Sarah is so knowledgeable about the craft of using whole grains and low-gluten grains in baking. We were sent home with generous loaves of our breads and our heads filled with newfound information to take into our sourdough journey. I highly recommend Brot Bakehouse and School for anyone interested in expanding their baking repertoire.“

Chesters Caterers • $
15 N Rd, Fairfield

“Unlike any other place you may encounter. The decor is from decades past, so visiting is like stepping back in time, and the staff/owners will poke at you if you wish to partake in banter. Nothing is commercially engineered for selling and profits. Everything is homemade and fit for the locals and visitors who seek and appreciate authentic Vermont experiences. Expect real Vermont maple syrup, and tip well, because this business seems to exist just for the heck of it, but they deserve more. "Wicked good," "Holy Cow," and "Jeezum Crow" live here.“
